Carolina Panthers cornerback Mike Jackson is looking to go where only one man, at least officially, has gone before.
A little over a week ago, at the end of mandatory minicamp, the soon-to-be eighth-year defender had taken some time out to chat with team beat reporter Sheena Quick. Quick asked Jackson of his goals for 2026, and he certainly didn't hold back . . .
As Quick noted, Jackson is on the final year of his contract. But if he has the type of campaign he's set for himself, it may not be his last in Carolina.
To recap, Jackson is aiming for 80 tackles, six interceptions, three interception returns for touchdowns, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Only one player in NFL history has officially hit all of those marks in a single season—Pro Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott (as a rookie) in 1981.
Jackson would, obviously, have to step up his game to reach that ceiling. He is, though, trending up—after notching 68 tackles, four interceptions, one pick-six and a league-leading 19 passes defensed in 2025.
