Congrats to both. Although I think when Harvin gets back Williams likely gets the boot.

I don't know about this. Every time I hear ESPN or NFLN talk about the Seahawks it seems like they rave about Williams. I think we all expect him to disappear once the regular season starts but who knows, maybe the light has gone on for him.

Supposed to be the deepest and most talented roster in the NFL according to a large majority of NFL experts. Surprised our two castoffs made it.

If he turns into a beast in Seattle it's another reason to hate whisenhunt

Probably not gonna get much of a chance sitting 3rd on the depth chart at DE.

To be fair to SW, he never had a QB here to get him the ball.

We all like receivers who can somewhat cover for a QB's accuracy issues and make the tough catch after adjusting the route for an inaccurate throw, but you don't always need such receivers when the QB can get them the ball.

I feel that SW is the type that needs a good QB to be successful, and if a team has QB issues, SW becomes useless.

Because the Seahags have such a QB, SW and many other receivers don't have to be good in as many aspects of the game to make an impact. They can play their role and they have a QB that can utilize that role. In such a situation he can make a significant impact and perhaps even have a decent and productive career.

I would have liked to see SW with Carson Palmer, but it wasn't to be.

Perhaps he still doesn't show up this year, but I believe his odds of showing up are a lot higher because he has Russell Wilson chucking him the ball instead Derek Anderson launching a SCUD.

He wasn't the right receiver with the QB's we had out there, but seems to be a worthy addition for the Seahawks and Russell Wilson.

We'll see. It really won't surprise me either way.

We've all wanted a good speed receiver for years, but for the past few, even if we were to of had one, we could never of utilized him because we didn't have a QB who could get them the ball. So imo it's hard for us to judge these vertical receivers like SW, because he always looks bad when Anderson, Skelton, and moxie were our QB's.

He has a shot, hopefully he doesn't realize that shot against us, and overall we'll see. Color me intrigued.

Scho was one of our best bets at pass rush, I hope we have much better rush than we did in preseasons as abraham was the only guy in the front 7 who seemed to get any penetration.

Stephan Williams being gone is all on the staff/FO from last year. Yes, our QB's were horrible last year but you still should be able to identify talent at other positions, which obviously the old staff/FO could not and that is one reason they are gone.
I still do not know why we cut Schofield so early in camp. I still think he could be better than several of the pieces we have in place. If the Seahawks could see it, why didn't we?

IMO losing Schofield will prove a mistake by BA. A young player with real potential. We will see. As for Williams a big kid with some speed who always made plays in camp. When the season would start he would be buried and played very few snaps most of the time none. hope they both do well but not against us.

Williams was a project that really did well in camp - he's done that in the past though and WR is such a difficult position to make an impact for a young player

It looks like his role is going to be a guy they trust on the deep ball. Carroll likes his 6'5" receivers. He was used mainly for deep passes - he had 236 yards in the preseason and averaged around 34 yards per catch. He pretty much caught only one pass (one one target) that wasn't down the sideline and that was a nice catch and run for a 1st down slanting across the field.

He unfortunately had a concussion when he caught a 50 yard pass from Wilson in the raiders game and the back of his head bounced off the ground - but it does look like they trust him out there to highpoint the ball, adjust if underthrown and protect the QB .... he pretty much ripped away the game deciding TD against GB on a ball that Quinn hung up there

Schofield should be in the rotation all season - pass rush is the big area of concern for Seattle and unfortunately Clemmons is still coming off his ACL injury (returning to practice today) and Avril has a hamstring issue and is questionable to practice or play this weekend. Irvin is suspended. So that leaves some opportunity for a guy like Schofield.

I think they'll use him as more than just a traditional DE as well. I can see him coming from the LB spot or working as a "spinner" much in the way they are going to try and use Irvin this year. Will see though as no one has been healthy to see it actually on the field.

Although in the circle of life Williams grabbing a spot helped lead to Chris Harper being expendable and SF gobbled him up.

KC grabbed Sean McGrath, who I think would have been a good fit here at TE.

Jax grabbed S Winston Guy.

KC also grabbed DL Jaye Howard

Such is the circle of life with the NFL roster churn - 17 new faces in Seattle this year while having minimal movement amongst their starters

Very interesting explanation for this CF88. I wondered about not keeping him too, as most 'experts' said that Arians favored speed receivers. Does this mean that Palmer is not capable of getting the ball to a speed receiver?
Or is it simply that BA doesn't have faith that our O-line can hold the pressure off long enough to throw deep to anyone.

IMO Williams was the guy that was hurt the most from having inaccurate scrub QB's because he runs the routes that only good QB's can consistently complete passes to. We had QB troubles with 5-10 yard routes, forget about completing the 20-40 yard stuff.

True he could have been a better overall receiver and then be utilized on shorter routes, but he seemed to have a problem with them. His reason to be in the NFL are vertical routes, and we tried to put a square peg in a round hole. Doesn't work very well. Of course we also tried some deep throws, but with our QB's, those weren't working either. So when we couldn't complete the deep throws to him, and he couldn't do much underneath, well his fate was sealed.

I wouldn't put in on Arians or Palmer because they're only here in 2013. I believe we cut ties with him in the 2012 preseason. So he probably wasn't on their radar.

Just something that falls through the cracks.

Of course since he's still done nothing, so technically we haven't lost anything yet, but I think he has a legitimate shot of having a few decent years there.
