One of the Jacksonville Jaguars' biggest strengths for the 2026 season should be their extremely talented and deep group of wide receivers.

The receiver room will be lead by Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington, who make up the best trios in the NFL. The Jaguars also have second-year phenom Travis Hunter back from a knee injury that limited him to only seven games as a rookie.

Even with Hunter primarily playing cornerback this season, his occasional use at receiver should provide the offense a significant boost.

All four of Jacksonville's top WRs have the talent and have proven they can each step up and be the team's leading receiver in any given game.

Beyond those four, Jacksonville also has several other young, intriguing receiver on their roster as training camp is set to kick off in about two weeks.

Paul Bretl of Jaguars Wire wrote a fantastic preview of the team's wide receiver position and makes his prediction on how many WRs the team will break camp with as it heads into the regular season.

Bretl believes Jacksonville will carry six WRs on its original 53-man roster.

The Roster Locks

No surprises here. Bretl believes the top four of BTJ, Meyers, Washington, and Hunter are the position's roster locks.

Not really going out on a limb there.

However, things get interesting after those four, as several youngsters have been trying to make a name for themselves during the Jaguars' offseason program.

Who Else Can Push For A Roster Spot?

Assuming the foursome above have their spots etched in stone, as they should, the team has nine other WRs entering camp who will be competing against each other for one, possibly two, available spots on the 53-man.

The most intriguing of the bunch is undoubtedly Josh Cameron, who brings excellent size at 6'1 and 224 pounds. Not only did Jacksonville use a draft pick to bring him in, but it also traded two picks to move up to select him in the sixth round.

Late-round picks are never locks to make the team, but the fact that the Jaguars thought highly enough of him to trade up to get him shows their excitement over the 23-year-old.

It would seem that Cameron has a leg up on everyone else trying to join BTJ, Meyers, Washington, and Hunter on the team.

After Cameron, another rookie, C.J. Williams, has turned heads during OTAs and minicamp. Williams, if nothing else, is making it very difficult to leave him off the team.

Can Cameron do enough during camp to go from a probable WR5 to an absolute lock? And can Williams do enough to justify a sixth receiver being kept? If Jacksonville intends to sneak him onto the practice squad, he may not make it through waivers.

The Jaguars are also carrying Austin Trammell, Tim Jones, Michael Wortham, Trebor Pena, Ben Patterson, Brady Boyd, and Chandler Brayboy.

Every receiver in that tier may find it nearly impossible to crack the 53-man roster and is likely hoping to do enough to warrant a spot on the practice squad.

Bretl's Choices To Make The Team

Aside from his four locks, Bretl also thinks Cameron and Williams will make the team heading into Week 1, giving Jacksonville a total of six WRs on the final roster. He believes the others will not really come close, barring an unexpected monster camp from any of them.

Final Thoughts

Having a player like Travis Hunter puts the Jaguars in a lucky spot here. If he is being viewed mostly as a corner, the organization may keep an extra receiver. If there is a young CB who turns enough heads at camp, the uniqueness of Hunter allows him to be counted as a WR so the team can keep an extra defensive back,

Jacksonville is in great shape at receiver. Whether they keep five or six, they will be one of the strongest units on the entire team.
