So what does this extension mean when it comes to Kupp’s per-year salary?

The extensions have lowered the cap hits this year.

But in 2023...Aaron Donald + Matthew Stafford + Jalen Ramsey + Leonard Floyd currently = $105M of 2023 salary cap.

Of course, they can keep restructuring/pushing out.

NFL may need to put limits on restructures, or require strict splits of salary+bonus to really put the cap back in Salary Cap.

That's all collectively bargained. Why would the players agree to this?

Because these mega deals affect the $3m players too and there are far more 3m players voting than 20m players....
And.....
Weed, huge bargaining chip and the league can pull a lot of concessions out of the nflpa to stop testing for it

Cooper Kupp is 29 years old in less than a week.

It's interesting how many teams manipulate the so called salary cap and give megabuck contracts to their stars or free agents. Meanwhile the Cards did nothing in free agency this year and have big holes throughout their lineup to fill. Something is missing here? :bang:

The Cardinals had no cap space pretty much this off-season.

They literally did the same thing the Rams did, just at a lower scale.

The big difference is LA restructured contracts to retain and add talent to a SB roster and ARZ did it to keep 2 guys on a team that looked like it had no business in playoffs the second half of the season.

Add talent?

They added a descending ILB and an injury prone WR.

They've lost more than they've gained.

Von Miller looked done before arriving in LA and Whitworth was 38 years old so I don't feel they lost much especially when LA has shown they have no problems bolstering their roster at trade deadline. They extended all their major pieces: Stafford, Kupp & Donald, etc.

I would rather have the Rams roster now than the Cardinals.

I’d guess that guys like DeVondre Campbell and Jordan Phillips are getting more money because deals are structured like this.

Agreed on the weed thing tho.

You might not "feel" that they lost much, but Von Miller was really good for them and Whitworth won most battles.

They struggled to get a consistent pass rush before trading for Von.

They also lost Darrious Williams, and the rest of their corners not named Ramsey, sucked.
