OT: Kyler Murray Debacle Thread

Panicman Checkdownberg threw it WAAAAY too late on the second one. The receiver had been open almost immediately on the cross. It was an egregiously bad throw.

I have made the panic comments for a while now. Even last week in the QB draw he panicked when it was logged up and threw a pass outside where Fro got an illegal man down field penalty. That was completely on Murray and his panic play.

It's clear that Kyler is not a pocket quarterback. He can't do it consistently. But he can do it intermittently. So why are we not doing more rollouts or designed runs? We do it sporadically, it works, and then it stops. Play to his strengths!

His bad body language has come back over the last three games. He's doing that thing where he shrugs his shoulders or throws his hands up when things go wrong. Players get upset. It happens. But you're the leader of the team man! Stop with the theatrics.

As it's been stated K1 is a part of the game planning. So I think it's reasonable to assume if he wants to do more of that he would be asking for it. If he still wasn't getting what he wanted he should/would be yelling from the top of South Mountain.

I’m 1000% out on Murray. You can’t be getting paid what this guy is getting paid and get outplayed in games that you absolutely have to have by friggen Geno Smith x2 and Sam Darnold.

You can’t blame the defense. Too many terrible decisions and INTs.

This goes back to 2020 when all they needed to do was win a game against a completely depleted SF team that was starting 3rd stringers everywhere and couldn’t do it. Then they played the Rams and Kyler got nicked up and was running sprints up and down the sideline like he wanted to come back in the game but didn’t and they lost that one and missed the playoffs.

Then the next year to get off to the hottest start we’ve ever seen only to be followed up by the worst collapse we’ve ever seen. That playoff pick 6 against the Rams is undeniably one off he worst plays in NFL Playoff history.

Another collapse down the stretch this year with INTs galore just proves to me that when the games matter the most this guy just can’t cut it. I can’t even sugar coat it. He’s a flat out choker. Dude is getting paid SO much. Win a game for us that we absolutely have to have. He’s just not that guy. F Kyler

He absolutely gagged today and in big games it is looking a trend for sure.

To be clear, he isn’t “trending.” That would be he’s leaning in a direction… he’s heading toward something.
He’s there. Not trending.. not leaning or heading toward something. He has arrived at the “something.” He is who he is. No trending whatsoever.
He’s merely another physically gifted dude who has zero ability to rally the mental and emotional juices within himself and that are required to win late season big games.

This has been said about Kyler virtually since the day he was drafted.
Kingsbury tried like hell to create a “non pocket” type offense for Kyler… it failed.
Can you name one successful NFL QB who wins big games by being a non-pocket QB??

Kliff's offense was more suited to Kyler than the current, but I'd say Tampa and Miami both run offenses Kyler could excel in. It's not that every throw needs to be out of pocket, but it should be a part of the gameplan, it currently is not.

Yep I have seen enough. He is too short…can’t see can’t read defenses…gave him way too much money…heck I would take the Penn state quarterback in the second…

The second pick was because of his height. DL was in his grille and he didn’t see the safety breaking.

He could be the hardest working QB in the league and he’d still be 5’10”.

Like I said - show me a “non-pocket” NFL QB who has proven to be a winner in late season big games.
And FYI, though Mayfield has won in the post season, he hasn’t proven to be a late season big game winning NFL QB…
And both Baker and Tua make MANY MORE great NFL throws from the pocket than does Kyler.

I remember that Petz made a statement that Murray has to slow down in the pocket and let things develop. It seemed after that Murray did slow down and played much better but it seems to me that he is back going 90 MPH in 35.

I can't imagine Kyler surviving in Miami, Tua gets the ball out in a second flat or he gets drilled. If Kyler gets pressured before 4 seconds he freaks out and fans complain that he needs better OL help before he can be expected do anything.

I think its less that Kyler needs Miami's offense, but more that our offense needs a QB as good as Tua.

Oh definitely and it was in the air way too long. I'm just saying the overhead shot they gave us on replay the amount of ground he covered was pretty impressive. Just don't see our safeties doing that.

The one I'm talking about to Metcalf was a huge play we were down 9 it was 3rd and 25, I think the ball was around our 40 yard line? If Budda is able to make the play and pick it we're down 9 in real good scoring range. Instead they punted and pinned us at the 2 yard line, we drove all the way down and then missed the FG used about 3 1/2 minutes no points.

We never got a good replay on it but Davis seemed to have the same reaction I had he seemed to wondering outloud why Budda didn't make a play on the ball

Seeing him look like a sad toddler after every play is exhausting. I can't imagine seeing that body language on the field as a teammate.

He cannot function when he isn't totally healthy.

When fully healthy, he's elite. But he regresses to a bottom 10... maybe bottom 5 starter if he is dealing with anything that restricts his mobility, and in a 17 game season, keeping him untouched is essentially impossible.

Overall, they've been better than I thought they'd be. The surge in early autumn gave me some hope, but it all died after Kyler got hobbled in Seattle.

I can give him an "attaboy" for playing banged up, but if he is terrified of taking a hit then he shouldn't be out there, he shouldn't be in the sport.

There's one play in the first half that I noticed that I suspect is a frustrated with Kyler thing.

Conner is lined up left and Kyler moves him and just as he passes Kyler, Kyler moves him back to the left side. He winds up lining up wide on the left like a WR.

At the snap, he didn't move a muscle he just stood there straight up and never did a thing, didn't even act like a decoy. I think it was an incompletion to Marv on the play don't really remember but I wasn't sure if Conner was just tired, or more likely he was mad that Kyler moved him twice and just didn't do anything.

From a guy like Conner who plays so hard, it was surprising.

The first pick he got suckered into it by the LB, acted like he was leaving the area and then went and took the ball. Just very bad. The 2nd one was two things, too much air under the ball, and another reminder how other teams have way better safeties than us at defending the pass. Bryant is a converted CB and the amount of ground he covered on that play to get the pick was pretty impressive, but I see NFL safeties do that week after week.

in our side no, Budda is a great guy and tough as nails but he ran into a block that gave Charbonneau the long TD run earlier, and then with the game on the line Geno airmails a ball trying to hit Metcalf, the Budda is literally running right at the football and then for some odd reason stopped and it bounced at his feet. He might not get there but at least close on the ball and go for it. He makes that pick we still have a chance.

I'm not sure which pick was worse. The one he threw right at a LB that never had a chance, or the one where the WR was wide open but he threw it late and way too slow/high.
