Sets the market for Cousins?
This is an enormously risky move by the 49ers and frankly, I can't wait to watch it blow up in their faces. They are clearly trying to force teams to overpay QBs in hopes that they can "catch up" to the rest of the NFC at an expedited rate. No one outside of maybe Daniel Snyder would have ever offered this sort of money for Jimmy G.
The York family continues to be completely inept. If any gameplanning has ever been done for Jimmy G it has been minimal at MOST. Now teams will have plenty of tape from last year as well as tape on Shanahan's offensive scheme and can attack him properly this year.
They are going to regret this and its going to be amazing.
They may come to regret it. Do they have a choice here though?
This what’s seperates good teams from perennial losers like the Cards.
They didn't have to pay him this insane contract rate, $100-110 mil even seems high but would have gotten the job done.
This what’s seperates good teams from perennial losers like the Cards, they are willing to go out and spin mega bucks on a qb who never played 6 games straight let alone played a full season and we are sitting up in here bitching that Cousins isn’t worth the money while he played for an inferior and putrid all around team.
We sitting up in here talking that Baker “air raid” Mayfield or Lamar “Tyrod” Jackson are our answers to the qb position while good teams who have a history of winning go out and acquire their qb. Cousins is the answer to this team. He will make us competitive to the Niners, hawks, and Rams who now got their collective heads together.
I’ll take Foles too, y’all thinking that these draft picks gonna pan out while we already know what we got in Cousins/Foles/Tyrod. This is why the Niners have Super Bowl championships and while the Cards are rebuilding.
Well he clearly has a great agent, and SF folded under the pressure. Rookie move by Lynch to give out that much money to a QB with 7 starts under his belt...that's just insane. This is insane. What has Grappolo done to warrant to become the highest paid player in the NFL? Answer is nothing. San Fran is nuts to pay this kind of money to an unproven player.
MY 2 cents for what it is worth.
Man, I'm as much of a Cousins fan as there is, and even I think this is panicking too much.
This is a damn steep deal, but the 49ers had put themselves in good position cap wise to go out and acquire/pay a QB this offseason, which always seemed to be Lynch's plan. The team that selects the right QB of the future in this draft will be in amazing shape going forward compared to some of these guys who are big spenders at the position, but I have to admit I'm scared of us thinking we can find the right guy this year.
They didn't have to pay him this insane contract rate, $100-110 mil even seems high but would have gotten the job done.
Right guy or most expensive, there is a difference.
Next thing the Niners will need to do is build a team around their new QB, and that is where the rubber will meet said road for them. We will see. Not ready to "crown their ass" just yet.
Somewhere Jamarcus Russell is rolling off his couch to see if he can still throw a football.Well he clearly has a great agent, and SF folded under the pressure. Rookie move by Lynch to give out that much money to a QB with 7 starts under his belt...that's just insane.
You (royal you)can sit on a high horse, say the money is too much, and lose, or you can pay what it costs to get a QB and compete. This is insane. What has Grappolo done to warrant to become the highest paid player in the NFL? Answer is nothing. San Fran is nuts to pay this kind of money to an unproven player.

Niners are still one of the most prestigious franchises in the NFL, no matter what they did in recent memory. The Cardinals might not necessarily still be a laughing stock like they used be *cough cough Mcginness era* but thanks to our bungling GM, we are still miles away from being a franchise like the Niners . All because we didn’t give up the necessary amo to get Watson/Mahommes/Lynch when we had the chance.2007 NFL NFC West 2nd 8 8 0

Sounds like hyperbole to me, unless by losers you mean, didn't win the Superbowl, and in that case, there are 31 other teams a year that are perennial losers, that are separated from 1 team, and this year the QB that won the Superbowl didn't make that much, so not really sure what you are talking about.

How many playoff games has Kirk Counsins won, since he is the obvious and only savior of this team ? Just asking.
When was the last Superbowl win for the Niners ? How much did the last Niner's QB make when they were a playoff team ? What has their collective record been since then ?
Good argument, not saying you are wrong, you just may want to keep your examples more relevant.
