Being reported on ESPN, that judgement is coming for Alex Cora and “it’s going to be harsh”

Manfred said there were some lower-level Astros employees who were aware of the rules violations or participated in the violations at the direction of others, but he will defer to the Astros whether that conduct "merits discipline or other remedial action."

The report says many players knew the scheme was wrong b/c it crossed the line and/or violated MLB rules. "Players stated that if Manager A.J. Hinch told them to stop engaging in the conduct, they would have immediately stopped." Breaking monitors apparently wasn't clear enough.

Even if the Astros hadn't cheated, Dave Roberts was determined to lose that World Series and would not have been stopped.

Crane mentioned that the Astros have an internal exec who was interviewed for a GM spot. Assistant GM Pete Putila interviewed with the Pirates for their open GM job this offseason. Could be a candidate to take over for Luhnow.

At this point, it would surprise me if Hinch ever got a job in MLB again. His time with the D-Backs was not without controversy as well (though nowhere near on this level).

Initial read is Alex Cora will draw a somewhat similar ban from MLB to what a Hinch/Luhnow got, which is 1 season. Not necessarily exact but in the ballpark. MLB said to be still working on Red Sox however, so could change.

Being a whistle blower is not easy. It is sad for anyone to be in that position.

But, as the saying goes, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Hinch and his GM are lucky to be suspended from MLB for only one year, even if being
fired by the Astros.

Cheating has to be discouraged. This age of electronics (even if banging is part of it)
must be monitored and addressed.
