@kerouac9 likes to blame Monti, but its Keim's QB that is starting. Is it wrong to ask for grace towards Monti with a QB who had a contract he cant get out from under?

He built a roster for a QB thats not Kyler Murray. Only fair to really judge him once he has a QB thats not Kyler Murray.

He built a roster to fail? Brilliant.

Not to fail. Just in the identity that he wanted. Nothing about it fits Kyler Murray. However, they tried to make Kyler Murray fit it. Didnt work. Time to get a Qb that does.

In with this existing offensive line and this existing offense, how many QBs excel here?

Josh Allen - sure
Lamar Jackson - struggling a bit with the lesser o line
Jalen Hurts - maybe. Same player as kyler but with an oline and receivers
Patrick Mahommes - even though he has struggled a bit as the talent has been poorer, he is still Mahommes
Mayfield - yeah likely but also a hilarious comparison if we boot Kyler
Herbert - sure
Love - Maybe..unlikely
Goff / Stafford - With this oline nope

Counterpoint - he didn't draft Tune to be a K1 replacement. He was a 5th round flyer for backup developmental QB.
Cool now make an affirmative case.

Monti was hired because he said he could build a team around Kyler. He failed at that. How has he earned your trust?

He was hired to build a team around Murray and couldn’t do that. Hire someone else with expertise at finding and developing QBs, because no one on this staff has that on their resume.

What has Monti done to earn your loyalty? He’s 14-25! Expect more!

He tried, and found what another HC and GM found out before they were fired. Now it's time to let him pick a QB of his own. Can't fault him for attempting to make it work with K1. Choosing a QB in the first round of the draft is different than drafting almost any other position.

Why? This is a total non sequitur. What has he done to earn this opportunity after failing at the one thing he said he could do as a condition of the job?
It's not like he came here to be the GM of a K1 lead team, that was the employment condition when he took the job. Why wouldn't he be afforded a chance to get his own QB?

That’s exactly why he was offered the job bro. He couldn’t do the job he was hired for; maybe he’ll show aptitude for a completely different skill set?

He’s not Howie Roseman, who has built excellent teams in the past. He’s the third-choice GM and a completely replaceable part. Oh no what will we do without the guy who identified BJ Ojulari and Darius Robinson?

What ability has Monti Ossenfort displayed at this job to earn your loyalty? The third-choice GM doesn’t “deserve” anything.

14-25! Nice job!

Doesn’t explain the misses on defense tho

Elijah
Darius
BJ
Darius may not be a miss.
You been around long enough to know that other than TE, IDL takes the longest to adapt to the league.
I mean, we all thought he would pop early because of his strength...but he ain't a bust just yet.
Ojulari...I dunno...maybe they are so pissed at him they just keep him out of spite so he can't sign somewhere else?
Or he secretly had a bionic leg installed and they are waiting for the right time to reveal it?? Like dude is running secret missions for the CIA that coincide with the Cardinals road schedule....??
fudge I dunno.... sign the kid up for SSDI and be done with him already

Our o line is better at pass blocking than any of those QB's currently have...
Pick out any one of them that passes with timing and anticipation and we are playoff bound with our current roster.
Marv and MikeWilly both run good routes...a major talent that is totally useless with kyler under center.

Isaiah Adams was a horrific reach by two rounds and is now starting. I would like to remind everyone Cooper Beebe and Christian Hayes both fell to round 3 and we mega reached for Adams. Watch the Cowboys sometime and see how Beebe is doing compared to the human turnstile. We just watched Hayes wreck our o-line a week ago.

Ossenfort is terrible.
That 2024 draft class is more of a disaster every week. Tip is likely done for the year. Rabbit fumbled a pick into the end zone. Adams had a couple more penalties today and played his usual garbage football. It was good to see MHJ come alive, but that is about all they got today out of that entire class.

Obviously, a lot of the guys are injured, but that doesn't change the fact that we are getting very little production out of 7 picks in the top 90.

Giggle yourself into a puddle but reality is what it is.
No QB gets 4 seconds to pass the ball.

There is no metric that exists that shows your opinion on 11 better QBs than Kyler having worse pass protection this year is true.

Judging by some of the comments on here, the coaching, GM, and ownership is exactly what some of you fans deserve.

Regardless of the results, they'll just mix red kool-aid into a jar of urine and y'all will just drink it all up.

Nobody working for this franchise is above criticism. Enough with the excuses. Why give anyone the benefit of the doubt?

And if you said half I might let it slide but the hyperbole is excessive
Simple fact is, if we had a pro quarterback that letter rip as soon as he hit the top of his drop...the entire offense would function better, and our offensive line would be considered elite...

Even with foods piss poor season, middling Williams, and the apocalyptic disaster that is Isaiah adams

That is an assumption, not a fact

I honestly think this thread is a bit weird.

Sure. We can discuss Monti’s results and performance.

But can anyone actually claim that these three lost game were due to a bad roster?

Between Kyler, Gannon, Petzing, Monti, I think Monti has the smallest blame. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t share the blame - just less IMO

You think the actual roster has the smallest blame in a loss?
