Algerian international Amine Gouiri has been in recovery for days now at OM. This Friday, Roberto De Zerbi shared the latest on his player.
During the last Ligue 1 campaign, Amine Gouiri played a pivotal role in helping his team secure a Champions League spot. Unfortunately, the Algerian forward has only featured for 12 minutes in the UCL this season. This was due to a rough start to the season and, more notably, a serious shoulder injury picked up on international duty that required surgery. As a result, Gouiri was forced to withdraw from the 2025 AFCON.
"You probably know more than I do. I know that Gouiri still has a long recovery ahead. For this type of shoulder operation, the recovery time is around three months. I don't know. There was talk of controversy. When Gouiri got injured with Algeria, I didn't say anything. I said it wasn't Algeria's fault. We're happy when our players go on international duty. The current controversy is about when players will go to AFCON. There's nothing we can do about it. I don't know when he'll be back. It's the same with Medina and Traoré," Roberto De Zerbi said at Friday's press conference.
