Jeff Hornacek For Coach Thread

- Career overachiever. Hated to lose. High ball IQ.
- Coaches son. Grew up in a coaching environment since he could dribble.
- Played under Cotton Fitzsimmons, Jerry Sloan, & Johnny Orr (Iowa St.).
- Would have no problem relating to Steve Nash.
- Obvious Suns connection, would he bring along former teammate Eddie Johnson as an assistant?
- Lives in PHX.

If we're throwing out names like Alvin Gentry, Vinny Del Negro, an Avery Johnson... Hornacek also deserves to be mentioned and would likely be 10X better for this franchise than the names listed above.

On top of that, he was one helluva player.

Just throwing this out there, since no one has mentioned it... except Jerry Brown of the E. Valley Tribune.

Has he ever coached a unit? I'll go look, but I think an NBA head coach better have some experience head coaching at a lower level at the very least.

Guess he's been working with the Jazz as a "shooting coach".

Would be great if he could lock DJ Strawberry in the gym all summer.

I bet he could help LB and Raja, too. And he was an outstanding free throw shooter...maybe he could help Sha....nevermind.

Unfortunately, he hasn't really coached before. I don't think he's ready to be a head coach.

Why does every thread have to be labeled "official?" What makes this so official?

Horny will make a very good assitant coach to start with. He will help Nash to transform into Stockton regarding offball games, with his own experience as the backcourt mate of the latter.

I'm uncomfortable with guys who either have no coaching experience (EJ), or very little (Hornacek) coaching the team. If we're going for a guy who's never coached before, he better have some good coaching experience.

D'oh! What I meant to say is that if we're going to go for a head coach who hasn't been a head coach, then he should have some pretty extensive coaching (assistant or other level). I need to get more sleep.
