Yeah, he's never going to be a good QB, but his athleticism is good enough to make enough plays to allow the Bears to be average.

I guess we'll see if coaching up a lesser talented team (Cardinals) is better than a bad coach with a talented team (Bucs).

We don't know if we'll have an edge in coaching or not. Not yet we don't.

So let me understand this correctly. Once the cut to 53 players takes place, the Cardinals can put in claims for as many players they want & only the Bears & Texans can stand in their way?

Twitter always says nonsense like this.

The reality is that nobody is hot for the cast offs that can't make another 53 that you are required to roster for 3 weeks. It means you lose a guy you have been working with for months and knows your system for a guy you know nothing about who doesn't. Right before the season starts.

Unless it's a very rare occurrence where a guy gets cut that your HC/OC/DC knows that isn't already vested it's pretty rare for teams to sign many players from waivers after cut day.

Enticing them to join your PS is far more common.

I do not get the Fields hype going around the media. I've not seen anything from him last season that suggests he has the ability to make a leap in the passing game.

He had two games all last year where he passed for more than 200 yards. 2 games. He had 8 games with less than 160 yards.

He played 15 games and had 2242 yards in a passing league and averaged 149 yards per game. Actually down 6 yards on his rookie season.

Most overhyped QB in the league.

He would have to increase his passing yards by about 70% just to match Hurts.

I understand and agree that this isn’t the preferred method right before the season starts. But, unlike our previous regime, I think that MOJG know exactly what kind of players they are looking for. You can’t fix all your needs in one draft, and the FA period really didn’t provide decent options, so then this could be an ideal time to grab a few players that fit the MOJG mold. When you factor in all the pro relationships that MO, JG, and DP have built, I think they can find players that fit their system and are ready to be relatively plug and play guys. And who’s to say that a few of these late cut options aren’t a better system fit than some of the guys left to them from the SKKK era??

One of my biggest frustrations with the lack of defensive talent added this offseason was that I do like Rallis and some of the defensive coaches the Cardinals added.

Hurts had 210 yards he 2nd season with Quez Watkins and rookie Devonta Smith has his top receivers. The top receiver on the team had 916 yards.

Field had 149 yards a game.

Far more likely Fields sucks again than he is great. Most likely is he's a rank average guy who relies on his feet.

When I watch a QB in preseason and the first 4 passing plays the OC calls are passes behind the LOS that tells me the OC doesn't trust Fields to throw it downfield. And one of the TD's he was late on and it should have been called back for ineligible man downfield. He finished with negative air yards.

Really good would be 3700 yards passing, 500 yards rushing, 25 TD's and 10 INT's. I just don't see that happening outside the rushing.

At a stretch maybe there is some 3rd string safety like K'Von Wallace JG likes. Maybe someone like Noah Elliss or Tarron Jackson who struggles to make a stacked D line.

If anyone it's likely to be someone from the Eagles but I wouldn't expect it to be anyone that sniffs 1st team action.

Maybe. Maybe not. I haven't seen anything really all that good from Fields throwing the football. He hasn't even approached Lamar Jackson ability.

Average. Throwing the football well is probably the most important trait an offense can have.

The Bears can win with Fields if they have an elite OL, an elite running game, and a good defense. That's a whole lot of team building to cover for a mediocre QB.

If Fields runs as much as he did last year, and he will, he’s not going to play 17 games.

There is no rhyme, nor reason to this post, but I’m starting to think this team may be one of those scrappy squads that somehow wins 7 games.
