Oak Ridge High tennis teams kick off season Feb. 12

Feb. 2 kicked off a week of tryouts for the Wildcat and Lady Wildcat tennis teams on the city's public courts in front of Oak Ridge High School.

Co-head coaches Joanne and David Bowman continue their long tenure at the school in 2026 and are thrilled that 35 new and returning players have signed up for the spring campaign, David Bowman said in a news release.

"We have a new wrinkle in the dual match schedule since the state officials at TSSAA reorganized the Class AA schools in Region 2, moving ORHS from District 4 to District 3," he said. "Joanne and I are looking forward to both ORHS tennis teams pursuing 'team titles' against their new TSSAA competition."

Bowman said they hope Oak Ridgers check out the "home" dates and drop by the Jackson Square Tennis Facility between Tennessee and Broadway avenues to cheer on the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats.

"Our players appreciate seeing cardinal and gray in the bleachers and hearing the support during their singles and doubles matches."
