ATLANTA — The Mets would like nothing more than to celebrate the Fourth of July with a victory. The month has not been kind to them thus far.
With a 5-3 loss to the Braves on Friday night, the Mets are now 0-2 in the month. They also dropped a lopsided 9-3 defeat to close out a series with the Blue Jays on July 1.
The Mets and Braves will play the second game of their series at 8:08 p.m. on Saturday night at Truist Park in Atlanta.
The Mets will be looking to solve Chris Sale, who enters the game with an 8-6 record, 2.10 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 90 innings. Last time the left-hander faced the Mets in 2025, he tossed 8⅔ scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, scattering five hits and one walk.
Sean Manaea will be on the mound for the Mets as he makes his fifth start of the season. Manaea is 1-3 with a 4.71 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 63 innings.
