North Bend’s boys volleyball team has advanced to the first-ever OSAA-sanctioned playoffs for the new sport.
The Bulldogs, who finished second in their special district, open the playoffs on Wednesday at Willamette Valley Christian.
The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults and $6 for students.
North Bend is the No. 9 seed and Willamette Valley Christian the No. 8 seed. The winner advances to face top-ranked Portland Adventist on Saturday.
North Bend finished 11-5 in District 4. Willamette Valley Christian finished 13-5 in District 3.
Willamette Valley Christian is located in the community of Brooks, north of Salem.
Portland Adventist, the top seed, is 12-2 overall, with losses to Molalla and Westside Christian.
Cascade is the No. 2 seed. The Cougars are 14-2 with losses to Westside Christian and Grants Pass.
Junction City, which won North Bend’s district, is the No. 5 seed and hosts Yamhill-Carlton on Wednesday.
