Jordan Silversmith broke down three areas where Florida State baseball needs to improve through the transfer portal this offseason:

Florida State baseball pitchers John Abraham and Wes Mendes both earned All-America honors:

Mendes was recognized as an All-American by two organizations, on Perfect Game’s Second Team and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Third Team, and the NCBWA named Abraham to its Second Team.

The All-America distinctions are the first of Abraham and Mendes’ careers, as Perfect Game and the NCBWA are the first two outlets to announce their All-America teams for 2026.

Abraham, a right-handed reliever, and Mendes, a left-handed starter, are the latest in the long list of Florida State All-Americans. The Seminoles have had at least one player earn All-America honors in all but one season since 1975 and two or more players every year except for one since 1983. For the first time since 2003, multiple pitchers are bestowed with first, second or third team All-America distinction. Two pitchers were recognized in 2021 and 2022, but one earned freshman accolades each year.

On Tuesday, Abraham and Mendes were named to the ABCA Southeast All-Region First Team. Mendes is the ACC Pitcher of the Year, the third in program history, and Abraham is the second FSU pitcher to be named a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year. Both are All-ACC honorees, Mendes on the First Team and Abraham on the Third Team. Mendes also was a Dick Howser Trophy and National Pitcher of the Year semifinalist and earned two ACC Pitcher of the Week accolades and several National Team of the Week honors.

Abraham was third in the ACC with six saves in 2026, all coming in ACC play which was tied for second-most in the league. In 19 appearances and 47.0 innings pitched, he notched a 1.91 ERA, the best on the team with more than 6.0 innings pitched. Abraham struck out 58 batters, fourth-most on the team and tied for the most among relievers. A Tampa, Florida, native, he allowed 10 earned runs on 32 hits with 24 walks and posted a 1.19 WHIP while holding opponents to a .190 batting average.

Mendes is among the nation’s leaders in strikeouts (125, No. 12 NCAA, No. 1 ACC), WHIP (1.02, No. 15/1), complete games (2, No. 15/1) wins (9, No. 25/6) and starts (16, No. 26/2). He was third in the ACC with a 2.81 ERA and No. 4 with 6.77 hits allowed per nine innings, a 5.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 12.10 strikeouts per nine innings. In ACC games, Mendes led the league with 62.1 innings pitched and 79 strikeouts and also was in the top 10 in fewest home runs allowed (4), ERA (3.32), opponent batting average (.223), wins (5) and fewest walks allowed (16). From Tampa, Florida, Mendes posted a 9-3 record and led the team with 93.0 innings pitched while allowing 29 earned runs on 70 hits with a .207 opponent batting average.

Abraham and Mendes helped the Seminoles to a 40-19 season in 2026. Florida State reached the 40-win mark for the third consecutive year after a four-year gap without 40 wins from 2020-23. Finishing third in the ACC, the team was 19-11 with eight series wins, both the best totals since 2014 outside of the extended 2021 season. FSU made its 62nd NCAA appearance, second-most all-time, and hosted an NCAA Regional for the 38th time, the most in the country. Florida State is one of three teams to host a regional each of the last three years.

Florida State men’s golf juniors Tyler Weaver and Jack Whaley also earned All-America honors:

Weaver was one of 10 golfers to earn First Team recognition from Golfweek and Second Team honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America. Whaley was named honorable mention by the GCAA.

Weaver finished the 2025-26 season with a scoring average of 69.58, marking the fifth-best average in program history. He joins Luke Clanton, John Pak, and Daniel Berger as the only Noles to turn in single season averages under 70 strokes.

In eight starts, Weaver finished in the top 25 in every outing, producing four top 10 showings. Weaver won the 2026 Valspar Collegiate, carding rounds of 65, 66 and 67, finish at 15-under, becoming the sixth Seminole in history to break the 200-stroke barrier in a 54-hole tournament at 198. He sits tied for third in FSU history alongside Frederik Kjettrup (2023 Watersound Invitational) and Clanton (2025 Lewis Chitengwa Memorial). With the win, Weaver earned exemption into the 2027 Valspar Championship, which will be held at the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Golf Resort.

Weaver was the runner-up at the Seminole Intercollegiate, earning ACC co-Golfer of the Month honors. He also took fourth at the Watersound Invitational to begin the spring.

Weaver rallied to tie for 10th place in stroke play at the ACC Championship before moving on to finish 2-0 in match play, defeating Aidan Tran of Georgia Tech 2&1 in the quarterfinal and Jay Leng of Stanford 4&3 in the semifinal.

Weaver earned PING All-Southeast Region honors for the second time in his career and was named a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist. He brings home the 19th All-America honor from Golfweek in FSU history after earning honorable mention in 2025.

Beginning in April, Whaley closed the season securing four top 15 finishes, including three consecutive top 10 showings. Whaley finished tied for sixth at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at 8-under, 205, before starting the postseason at the ACC Championship with an eighth-place finish at 4-under, 212. Whaley was also 1-1 in match play, securing his victory over Albert Hansson from Georgia Tech in the quarterfinal, 3&1.

With Weaver out of the lineup for the Noles, Whaley stepped up and led the team at the NCAA Columbus Regional, finishing tied for seventh at 4-over. In his NCAA Championship debut, Whaley finished tied for 14th place at 6-under, 282 after carding rounds of 72, 68, 73 and 69 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.

Whaley jumped over 100 spots in the World Amateur Golf Rankings this season and he sits at No. 109. He will compete in The Amateur Championship, June 15-20 at the Royal Liverpool and West Lancashire in England.

Florida State women’s golf sophomore Sophia Fullbrook rounded out the Seminoles’ All-America honorees, named to Golfweek’s second team on Wednesday:

Following the NCAA Championship, where she placed 20th overall at even par, 288, Fullbrook also captured Second Team All-American accolades from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.

This season, Fullbrook played in 12 tournaments, finishing first or tied for the win in three, and placed within the top 10 seven times. She finished with an average of 71.16, tying for the eight-best average in program history. She finished the season ranked 18th by Scoreboard and is listed 38th in the World Golf Amateur Rankings.

Prior to the NCAA Championship, Fullbrook was named All-ACC and earned ACC co-Golfer of the Month for March.

Fullbrook brings home the 27th All-America honor from Golfweek by a Florida State player in program history, dating back to 2006.

Fullbrook was named to the Curtis Cup team for the R&A, which will take place June 12-14 at the Bel-Air Country Club.

Florida State men’s outdoor track and field opened the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday at Hayward Field with Andre Korbmacher and Zach Extine advancing to Friday’s 110-meter hurdles final:

Korbmacher advanced to his first NCAA Outdoor final placing fifth with a new personal-best and tied second-fastest time in program history at 13.27. Extine took the final qualifying spot in ninth with a time of 13.36.

Neo Mosebi earned second-team All-America honors for the second time after placing 11th in the men’s 100 with a time of 10.17. Durian Moss finished 16th at 10.21, earning second-team All-America honors for the first time in his career.
