After the FSU offense bounced back with a big day on Friday in Jacksonville, the Seminoles’ defense came out on top during Sunday’s scrimmage — a common occurrence during fall camp:

Another consistent theme throughout camp has been freshman receiver Jasen Lopez getting props for his practice performances, with Norvell noting he had a nice showing during the scrimmage as he continues to capitalize on the opportunity to earn significant reps:

He’s a guy that doesn’t really act like a freshman….the mentality is one thing I appreciate with him. We’re challenging him, asking him to do a lot of different things in the finer details, and he’s definitely answered the call in a lot of ways of what we expect…I think Jasen is putting himself in a position where he’s challenging for significant opportunities.”

There’s some urgency for a revamped Florida State offense to coalesce around transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels if the Seminoles want to restore their status among the ACC’s elite. Mike Norvell hasn’t shied away from potentially utilizing either Carter or fellow freshman Jasen Lopez as the team looks to fill out targets around Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy. An early enrollee, Carter ranked No. 143 on the SC Next 300 and is the son of former FSU running back Dexter Carter.

Jacob Smith ran a simulation of FSU’s season in the latest edition of College Football, with the results both surprising and in-line with expectations for 2026:

Florida State 5th-year kicker Gabe Panikowski is among 35 players on the Lou Groza Award watch list:

The Groza Award is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2026. Florida State has won the award a record four times, including the only two-time winner in Sebastian Janikowski, who was the nation’s best kicker in both 1998 and 1999. Graham Gano won the award in 2008 and Roberto Aguayo was the top kicker in 2013.

Panikowski was a first-team All-American at Idaho State in 2024. The San Diego native was the Fred Mitchell Award winner as the nation’s best non-FBS kicker, connecting on all 15 field goal attempts, the most in the nation without a miss. His 55-yard field goal was the third-longest in FCS in 2024 and fourth-longest in Idaho State history.

At Riverside City College in 2023, Panikowski converted 15 of 21 field goal attempts.

Semifinalists will be announced November 17, with three finalists named on November 24. The 35th Groza Award winner will be announced on December 10 during the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.

Jordan Silversmith took a look at the moves that FSU baseball has made this offseason:

Florida State’s Kayleigh Clark and Nathan Cmeyla were both named as ACC Graduate Scholar-Athlete of the Year:

Clark, a member of the swimming and diving team since 2020, earned her graduate degree in Sport Psychology. This past season, she was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team and the All-ACC Academic Team while also earning CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition.

The Marietta, Georgia native concluded one of the most accomplished seasons in Florida State diving history in 2025-26, earning All-America honors and an NCAA bronze medal on the platform while becoming the Seminoles’ highest NCAA finisher since 2014. She also garnered All-ACC honors, captured the ACC bronze medal on platform and qualified for the NCAA Championships in all three diving events.

At the NCAA Zone B Championships, Clark secured NCAA Championship berths in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events before closing her collegiate career with a third-place finish on platform at the NCAA Championships, where she set a personal-best score of 333.30. She also placed 17th on the 1-meter and 31st on the 3-meter at the national meet.

Cmeyla, a member of the baseball program the last two years, earned his graduate degree in Business Analytics. Off the field, he was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll this past season.

On the diamond, the Ashburn, Virginia native helped the Seminoles finish in the top 20 in the national polls while also earning the program’s 62nd postseason berth. He played in 40 games with 35 starts, primarily at catcher, and hit .301 with a .485 slugging percentage.

Cmeyla totaled 136 at-bats, registering 41 hits, five home runs, eight doubles, one triple, 30 RBI, 21 runs scored, 66 total bases and seven walks.

To earn ACC Graduate Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition, student-athletes must successfully complete a graduate degree program (excluding certificate programs) and meet the Conference’s athletic participation requirements during at least one season while enrolled as a graduate student.

Florida State men’s golf rising senior Jack Whaley will compete at the U.S. Amateur Championship this week:

Representing England, Whaley will begin the first round at the Philadelphia Country Club at 8:17 a.m. on Monday. On Tuesday, Whaley will play in the second round, starting at 1:47 p.m. at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

The top 64 finishers from the first two rounds will advance to match play on Wednesday. The field will cut to 32 on Thursday and quarterfinal matches take place on Friday. Semifinals will feature the final four golfers on Saturday, and the final two will play a 36-hole championship match. Coverage will air beginning on Wednesday on Peacock and NBCSN. Live scoring will be available through the USGA.

Since his arrival at Florida State in August of 2025, Whaley has moved up over 200 spots in the World Golf Amateur Rankings, where he currently sits 90th. This summer, Whaley competed in three tournaments, finishing 21st at the Western Amateur with a score of 10-under, 274 after carding rounds of 68, 69, 71 and 66. He also placed 33rd at the European Amateur at 1-over, 285 and competed at the British Amateur.
