Nicholas Singleton established himself as one of the best running backs in Penn State history across his four season with the Nittany Lions. But even he would tell you he had a bit of a down year in 2025. Although he set his career high in rushing touchdowns last year, 13, he turned in the fewest yards of his career by far.

To add to Singleton’s disappointing season, he broke a bone in his right foot during Senior Bowl practice, sidelining him for a couple of months and forcing him to miss the NFL Scouting Combine and Penn State’s Pro Day.

Despite these negative factors, the Nittany Lions star is still projected as one of the top running backs in the NFL Draft, along with his teammate Kaytron Allen. After missing multiple opportunities to showcase his skills to the world, Singleton got a chance to update everyone on his injury and pitch himself to teams on “Good Morning Football,” on NFL Network.

The Nittany Lions’ all-time rushing touchdown leader told show hosts that he’s, “been doing good so far.” After describing how long he’s been recovering from the injury, he went on to say, “The past couple weeks I’ve been running around a little bit, getting back into football shape.”

The fact that Singleton has missed so many pre-draft events and has a concerning injury but is still viewed as one of the best rushers in the draft is a testament to his talent level. In addition to being Penn State’s rushing touchdown leader, he also has the fourth-most rushing yards in school history, behind Allen, Evan Royster, and Philadelphia Eagles superstar Saquon Barkley.

It was always interesting to think about how dominant Singleton could have been if he had the backfield all to himself, so hopefully he gets that luxury at the next level.
