Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Nic Scourton may have sustained a serious knee injury during the opening stanza of 2026 training camp on Thursday.

A rising defender, Scourton reportedly left practice and will get an MRI to see what happened, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He added that Panthers coach Dave Canales wouldn't speculate on the severity.

Obviously, losing Scourton would be a huge blow to the Panthers if the injury is anything meaningful. Carolina has to cross their fingers tightly that Scourton doesn't have the worst-case scenario. It'd be a bummer if he wasn't able to capitalize on his really strong rookie season, where he posted 5 sacks.

We'll see what comes from his evaluation, and if the Panthers need to add a pass-rusher in Scourton's stead.

When does the season start for Carolina?
