BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — One of the NIC-10’s all-time great defensive football players has found a new home for the next chapter of his career. Belvidere North linebacker Erick Roman has signed with Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Iowa Western is a top-notch NJCAA D-1 program. Roman was relentless at linebacker for Belvidere North the past four seasons. The last two seasons he was named the NIC-10’s Defensive MVP. Last fall he helped lead Belvidere North to its most successful season in school history. The Blue Thunder won the NIC-10 championship outright for the first time. They set a school record for wins with 12, and they reached the state semifinals for the first time in class 5A.
On top of his great football talent, Roman is also an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA.
