The Chicago Bears lost another member of their fantastic 2025 team during free agency, as Pro Bowl cornerback Nahshon Wright has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $5.5 million deal with the New York Jets. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was first to report the news.

In 2025, Wright had five interceptions, 11 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 80 tackles while leading the NFL in takeaways (8). To add some perspective to what the Jets are getting in Wright, they made the wrong kind of history last year by becoming the only team to ever go an entire season without recording an interception.

Now, the Bears need to find a replacement for their best cornerback from a season ago, amid injuries to Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon. There are some in-house options for the starting job opposite Johnson on the outside, including Tyrique Stevenson, Terell Smith and Zah Frazier. Or the 2026 NFL Draft could present a chance to add more competition.
