Man I don’t like gannon’s response. I know it’s not likely the full story, but trying a lot of guys out sounds more like we don’t have a plan at present.
I don't think, as a coach, you shut down the competition in voluntary OTAs by saying anyone is "the guy". Even if in your mind there is a real front runner. We don't have a depth chart on the team website right now for that reason. Give everybody as much hope as possible.

My GUESS is that the guy from the Bengals is the front runner to start.

Yeah, but is White better than any of these guys?

They signed two FAs and drafted 1 to replace him. It's not like they did anything random and left it to chance.

White added a veteran presence, leadership and mindset. His actual football skills are replaceable according to 32 NFL teams. A lot of FA signings at ILB. No one wanted to sign White.

Gannon’s plan was White wasn’t returning and he was moving forward without him. I remember when there was talk he wasn’t good enough now he is our best option?

don't know if 2 years constitutes an era but kyzir definitely helped install the murder mindset our new identity is being built around - would've liked him to stay but I'm pretty stoked with the ohio kid

Yeah I agree that you can't really call it an era with only two seasons on the team. My favorite attribute that White brought to this defense was the physicality that he played with. White always seemed to set the tone early in games with violent hits. The rest of the defense seemed to feed off of that.

I just hope that the Cardinals don't lose that physically violent mentality with White no longer on the roster. Although that seems unlikely as that physically violent play style is pretty much what Gannon preaches and covets in players.

So the reality is we have no real idea. He and his agent could’ve priced his 2025 season at an absurd rate. We really have no idea. Is that the likely answer? Maybe not. But to make the definitive statement that you did really isn’t accurate. What we DO know is no one signed him, period. Maybe HE eliminated some teams. Maybe he priced himself outta range for some teams.

Your argument is that his plan at linebacker was to NOT have a specific player play linebacker? I mean, that’s PART of a plan. But it certainly can’t be the ENTIRE plan.

I think the plan was to bring in an improving player they feel they can wring some more talent out of. Then have him hold down the position until a draft pick can take over.
It seems that's what they did.
Remains to be seen rather its effective or not.
But we had misgivings about both white and Wilson when they were brought in.
I'm gonna trust them on this until shown otherwise

White stormed out of his end of season meeting and messaged on social media that he was gone. (That's how it was taken by everyone.) The end of season meeting is about on the field stuff it isn't where you discuss a contract. It's pretty obvious to me they had decided at that point that he had not been good enough, will not get better, and it was best for the team to move on.

But unless he or the team ever talks about it, we will never know for sure. Personally, as I said long ago, I am fine with it as he was really part of the issues our defense had. He just wasn't as good last season as he was the year before. That's what I saw.

I like Kyzir. But the man served his purpose.
He came in with knowledge of the defense and lead them on the field until the rest were comfortable with it...and helped instill the drive and hustle the new culture demands.
Normally I would turn my nose at the squad for not showing some loyalty. But he was well compensated coming in.
As a team we cannot allow loyalty to stop us from trying to upgrade talent

Agreed on all point except -- did the team upgrade at the position?

Yes, that is certainly a legitimate question based on who they signed and drafted. I am sure they think they have gotten better, but the proof will always be on the field in regular season action.

I liked Kyzir

I also saw he was a liability in coverage, and in the run game he often overran (what looked like to me) his gap and allowed a more yards than it should have

but Im also an amateur looking at those things, so whatever

but the NFL has sure said something given he is unsigned

i dont get the depth of conviction this board has for him
