Monti is requesting interviews with coaches who are already accepting other jobs. We're clearly not a serious landing spot for any of the top coaches, and we're going to settle for the last guy looking for a job, again.
Yep. We will get the bottom of the barrel, guy desperate to be a head coach. As per usual. We got lucky getting Ariens that year when he came. He had been the interim HC in Indy the previous year when their HC had serious health problems. But if memory serves me correctly he was one of the last interviews as well when all of the good candidates had already taken jobs. We got lucky.

And that was after the Bears refused to hire Arians.

I'm not backing Monti for his decision making on anything, but I think this coaching search has little to do with him. Mikey wants Vance and that's what it's going to be. Monti is being the yes man/putz he is and is just doing window dressing with these "interviews".
Bruh, if Vance is our next HC, I might pull a Mitch and be totally out.

I'd would seriously have rolled with Kyler and Gannon another year before Vance.

Im with you - Vance would be the only HC hire that would make me totally apathetic about this team. Bidwill will have totally shown that he has no interest in bringing a winning team to the desert

Someone needs to lay out point by point why this is the prevailing opinion about VJ. Is it his time as a former HC in Denver? Is it about his time as DC here under KK? Gut feelings? I dont know!

Cardinals very inactive at this time. Guess they are waiting for weekend playoffs as several on their candidate list are on teams that are playing. I also feel like most that Vance Joseph will be chosen. He may be the only one that is willing to coach for the Cards. Sad but probably true.

But DEFINITELY not true. There are ONLY 32 head coaches and John Doe doesn't want to be one of them. Granted the AZ fans are terrible but if John Doe can do a decent job he'll be a hot candidate for other teams.

Im not sure about him being the only...but I think he was definitely the first they interviewed, so it does stand to reason he may have been the pick all along and they are just waiting. It seems the last time around they may have landed in Gannon earlier than anyone really knew and just waited for him. This time around it could be Vance, but it could also be that they are waiting for Kubiak to one of the Rams guys to be available. They may already know who they really want between the 4, even if we haven't heard about other zoom interviews. It's not difficult for GMs to do their due diligence with agents and references, especially for a coach that's in the division that they already have a ton of tape on.

Personally, I'm enjoying seeing some/most on the board losing their crap because they didn't go hard enough for mid candidates, like Saleh...he's gonna fail miserably in Tennessee! The only coach hired so far that remotely moves the needle for me is Harbaugh... Stefanski, Saleh, Halfey = meh, to me.

I think I prefer Kubiak at this point, unless McDermott really wants the gig. I also won't cry if it's Vance with Webb as OC. I think that could actually be a good pairing.

I think that what happened last year to MO and getting the penalty for tampering is affecting the hiring process

Him and MB are being really cautious and tip lipped about the whole thing

I agree with everyone that the are waiting and may wait until after the SB because they are waiting on a particular candidate

Maybe fans are losing their crap about mid candidates is because those are the top candidates available to a team that has no shot at getting a top tier coach.

Or maybe we're just defining top tier differently. A lot on this board are falling prey to the woe is me syndrome that unqualified media personalities are pushing through made up rumors.

“Stefanski a top candidate”

:biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Exactly! The facts are there were only 3 candidates this cycle you can positively say have had a decent amount of success: Harbaugh, McCarthy and McDermott. Any others who have had any modicum of success also have way more failures to balance that out. The rest are unproven commodities that may, or may not, be worth taking a chance on.
