The Miami Dolphins opened their first training camp under new head coach Jeff Hafley last Wednesday, and after three days on the field, they got the day off to rest and recover on Saturday before returning to action on Sunday.
For the fourth training camp session, the Dolphins opened up the bleachers for fans and even added some new large boards to help fans know the schedule of practice.
Here's what fans need to know about Sunday's session, according to the beat writers on the scene.
Per the new screens, Miami started inside with stretching and warm-ups before moving outside in front of the fans, where they did some special teams work, individual drills and team (11-on-11) drills.
While the Dolphins have had some injury luck through their first week of camp, the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Chris Perkins noted that tight end Greg Dulcich and offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer weren't seen on the field for practice. As far as the trio of players on injury lists (Darrell Baker, Storm Duck and Chris Bell), none of them participated either.
The Dolphins offense and defense got some punches in on Sunday, but some in attendance, including the Miami Herald's Omar Kelly, believe the offense clearly won the day. It was evident that the coaches agreed, as the defense did push-ups to end the session.
Defensively, there were a few strong plays, including linebacker Joshua Uche getting to the quarterback twice, beating rookie left guard Kadyn Proctor first and veteran right tackle Austin Jackson a few plays later. There were also some tackles for loss from Cameron Goode, Zach Sieler and Kenneth Grant.
The big highlight of the day for Sean Duggan's unit was rookie cornerback Chris Johnson's interception near the sideline as second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers attempted to hit second-year wideout A.J. Henning.
Henning, however, was one of the stars on the offensive side of the ball, as he beat cornerback A.J. Green III and caught a deep ball for more than 60 yards from Ewers. Just a few plays later, he beat cornerback Miles Battle to catch a deep ball from Cam Miller.
Quarterback Malik Willis had a strong day, finding Malik Washington multiple times and hitting a deep ball to free-agent signing Tutu Atwell, while Ewers hit rookie wideout Kevin Coleman for a 73-yard touchdown after cornerback Marco Wilson fell in coverage.
With Dulcich out, 26-year-old Cole Turner, who the Dolphins signed this offseason after three years in Washington and one in Tennessee, stepped up.
