MIAMI GARDENS ― The Miami Dolphins held their fourth training camp practice under first-year coach Jeff Hafley at the Baptist Health Training Complex.
This was the first practice open to fans and there was a good turnout, especially considering the very low expectations for the team.
Fans showed up to see Malik Willis, De'Von Achane and rookies like Kadyn Proctor, Chris Johnson and Jacob Rodriguez.
Rookie CB Chris Johnson, a first-rounder, made an excellent play on the ball and recorded an interception. near a sideline. It was a pass attempt from Quinn Ewers to AJ Henning.
Miami Dolphins training camp practice Report from camp with fans watching
The Dolphins are counting on Johnson to be an immediate starter. They love his instincts and his ablility to play both outside CB and in the slot on some third downs.
The Dolphins could have something decent at CB in 2026 if Johnson and JuJu Brents continue to play well and stay healthy.
Dolphins running backs De'Von Achane, Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon all had strong runs.
Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley is 100 percent committed to improving Miami's run game.
Miami's offense made some good plays in this practice, after having been mostly beaten down by the defense in the first three practices.
Malik Willis flashed his very strong arm to the crowd and connected with Tutu Atwell for a very long touchdown catch-and-run.
Rookie WR Kevin Coleman caught a 73-yard bomb for a touchdown from Quinn Ewers. It was a bit of a wobbler but the speedy Coleman - a good slot option - had all defenders beat by a number of yards.
A strong rookie contribution from receivers Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman would go a long way to helping Malik Willis. Bell is doing very, very, very well in his recovery from a torn ACL.
The veteran cornerback unfortunately appeared to fall down on a long touchdown pass from Quinn Ewers to Kevin Coleman.
Other than the interception by Chris Johnson, Miami's offense had a day on Miami's secondary on this day. Late in practice, Ewers connected on a deep touchdown to AJ Henning.
On the last play of practice, Henning hauled in another bomb. This one was from Cam Miller.
It was an impressive offensive day.
