Cam Thomas is Jalen Green with injury problems, and you guys know what I think of Jalen Green.
The Nets are wise to not want to commit to him.
That's a crazy comparison. I know you aren't high on Jalen but Cam Thomas is more Jordan Poole while Jalen Green is one hell of an athlete. I'd say Jalen Green is more like a Jason Richardson from back in the day. Not quite the chucker as he's incredibly explosive.
I can see not thinking he'll become more but I would never compare Green to Cam Thomas.
I am talking about their propensity to hog the ball and play no defense, putting up very similar stats.
When you factor in athleticism, I think Jalen Green is very very much like Kelly Oubre, just smaller.
Ant-man is a star and a fierce competitor. Guess I have to watch some clips of Jalen Green. Thought he was Archie Goodwin with a better shot.
Watching this I can see why they want Green. Houston looks like it runs a lot of high pick and roll, and that has been a mainstay here in Phoenix despite all the coaching changes. Green was able to get downhill or shoot threes off those. He had a couple of great games in the playoffs against the Warriors this year. Problem was if he wasn't great then he was essentially non-existent.

I think it's too soon to give up on Green. He is only 23. Book is not the same player he was at 23. Not that I am directly comparing. Sometimes a new coach, maturity or other things can change a player. He may never change. Who knows but he is young and has shown flashes. If only every draft pick we have made in the past 10 years showed those flashes. Consistency may not be something he has in him but we shall see.Watching this I can see why they want Green. Hot from three that night primarily. He is athletic and gets to the rim and finishes with an ease. He kinda looks like Brad Beal to me. Yikes. He had a couple of great games in the playoffs against the Warriors this year. Problem was if he wasn't great then he was essentially non-existent.

I would take a healthy version of Bradley Beal. My problem with Beal has never been how he plays....when healthy.I think Green can be a combo guard like Booker if he is dedicated to improve.
The comparison to Bradley Beal is not terrible if the Suns get a motivated, healthy version.
You trade for the contract of the player, not just the player. Value plummets with aging of body and contract. We traded for 3.5 years of control of a 33.5 year old Kevin Durant. The Rockets traded for 1 year of control of a near 37 year old Durant. The value drop seems appropriate to me. In fact, we probably got a deal.KD's value plummeted. Why could we not get one of their good players like Eason or that other dude.

The Suns also weren't in a great spot once it was clear we wouldn't send KD to a team like Minnesota that he didn't approve. That gave Houston less incentive to bid against itself.
Really curious to see how this plays out. On the surface it looks pretty damning for Kawhi/LAC. Will Silver take real action or will it be a slap on the wrist and swept under the rug?Same law firm that did the investigations into Donald Sterling and Robert Sarver is now looking at the Kawhi situation for the NBA.

I agree. However; haven't they traded away most picks? Void contract. Kahwai can't play for the clips, but make them pay that same amount anyway in fines AND add it to their cap number. The kahwi thing certainly looks like circumvention and it looks like the most blatant circumvention in history. The other schemes seemed to be more trying to take advantage of rules in place at the time. This would be straight cheating. Throw the book at them. Give them the same penalty as Minnesota got back in the day:
Whatever the present day financial fine equivalent of then Minnesota fine $3.5 million. All contracts voided, and with them his Bird Rights. Balmer barred from operating the team for a year. But most notably, strip the team of their next five first-round picks. But unlike the wolves, don’t give any back bc this is the most blatant cheating ever.
Take away the picks as far into the future as needed. Only reinstate them if balmer sells team and all execs involved turnover. Don’t punish people in the future who weren’t part of the scheme (why I always hated ncaa sanctions on programs when coaches and players who cheated were gone - but understood need to punish for failure to police on institutional level).I agree. Fine Kahwai the amount he got from cheating and void his contract. This is why you don't hire your uncle as an agent. Most agents are lawyers and I believe would have wanted no part of this scheme. The damage to their overall business would be too great.
I really don't know how to do this without things getting really messy. But, aside from other penalties, if Ballmer was actively involved in this, I think he has to be forced out. If he just rubber stamped it, he should lose his managing owner spot for at least a season.Take away the picks as far into the future as needed. Taking away the managing owner spot is symbolic at best. Look at the Cards and their supposed burner phone debacle.I really don't know how to do this without things getting really messy.
