The New York Jets have traded picks #33 and #179 to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for pick #30.
With the #30 pick the Jets have selected wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. out of the national champion Indiana University program.
Omar Cooper Jr. is a 6’, 200 pound receiver who does a lot of things well, but not great. His one great quality last season was his YAC production, which was best in class. He has good speed, good hands, runs good routes, and is strong and tough. He projects instantly as WR2 opposite Garret Wilson as WR1. The Jets have now transformed their passing attack in a single night.
With the trade the Jets now have made three first round picks.
Their remaining picks in this draft are now as follows:
Second Round #44
Fourth Round #103
Fourth Round # 140
Seventh Round #228
Seventh Round #242
That is a long, long stretch between pick #140 and pick #228. I hope this works out well.
What do you think? Do you approve of the trade and the pick of Omar Cooper Jr.?
