Week 12 of the NFL season has the New Orleans Saints traveling north to take on the Cincinnati Bengals. The game will be on Nov. 29, Thanksgiving weekend. It will also be the second straight northern trip for the Saints after playing the Chicago Bears on the road. This is midway through a tough six-game stretch for New Orleans that includes games against the Panthers twice, Bears, Bengals, Packers, and Buccaneers.
Cincinnati is coming off a 6-11 campaign in 2025, their first losing record since 2020. However, this remains an extremely dangerous offensive team when quarterback Joe Burrow is actually healthy. New Orleans is coming off an identical 6-11 mark, but comes into 2026 with increased optimism thanks to quarterback Tyler Shough and four wins in their last five games.
New Orleans and Cincinnati will meet for just the 16th time in 2026. It's been a matchup where New Orleans hasn't had a great deal of success in recent years, but have actually had better luck on the road.
These teams didn't have their first meeting until the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the third year of existence for the Bengals and fourth for New Orleans. Cincinnati won the first two games, with the Saints winning the next two, each winning twice on the other's home field. Through the late 1980s until 2006, the Bengals and Saints alternated three-game winning streaks against the other. Since 2010, the teams continued to alternate wins.
New Orleans owns the biggest win in this series, a 51-14 rout during the 2018 season, the last time they traveled to Cincinnati. In that game, Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw for 265 yards and 3 scores as running back Mark Ingram II picked up 104 yards. That game was also played in November, the last of five times these squads have faced off in November. New Orleans is 2-3 against the Bengals in the 11th month on the calendar, but have won their last two trips to Cincinnati that month.
The weather can be unpredictable in Cincinnati this time of year. It will also be a showdown between two teams trying to make strong moves in divisions that are up for grabs. The Saints have made some significant personnel moves on the offensive side, while the Bengals have a ton of movement on defense.
