New Milan coach: Glasner the top candidate, Pochettino agreement, mixed Slot reports

Multiple sources in Italy claim that Oliver Glasner remains the main candidate to become the new Milan coach, but Gazzetta reports that the Rossoneri also have an agreement with Mauricio Pochettino.

Milan’s search for a new coach continues, and according to several sources, former Crystal Palace boss Glasner is the leading candidate for the job at San Siro.

According to Gazzetta, there was a first meeting between Milan owner Gerry Cardinale and Glasner’s agent on Tuesday, but no agreement was signed, so the two parties will meet again in the coming days.

Gazzetta confirms that Glasner is Milan’s top candidate for the job, regardless of whether Ralf Rangnick is appointed as the new Technical Director at San Siro.

Matthias Jaissle of Al-Ahli is another option Rangnick mentioned to Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but it’s unlikely the 38-year-old will agree to a pay cut from his €12m-a-year salary to move to San Siro.

Pochettino, on the other hand, is said to have an agreement with Milan over a €5m-a-year deal, yet Glasner remains the Diavoli’s priority.

Pochettino, a former Tottenham and Chelsea coach, has already met with Milan directors and will leave the USMNT after the World Cup this summer.

Last but not least is ex-Liverpool coach Arne Slot. The Dutchman has been mentioned as a candidate for the Rossoneri, and Sky Sport confirms he’s in the frame.

According to Gazzetta, however, rumours of Milan’s interest in the ex-Reds boss have not been confirmed by club sources.
