PLEASE let it be the Mirage! I can just see it in the fourth quarters. The team looked to be in control of the game, but it was just a Mirage.

Pretty much you can make fun of all of them. Maybe the venom are the best of the three? Which ain't saying much. Reno had the name Aces, and in baseball slang it made sense. Then the WNBA used the Aces AGAIN, in the same state! I loved living in Nevada, but sometimes you wonder. LMAO. I guess they could have thrown Aces in there, AGAIN.

Venom was the only semi-decent name on that list. I can already see the Marvel tie-in like with the Raptors and Jurassic Park as well.
I'd hope they'd come up with something better though.

Disagree. Mirage is the best name, but the colors don't work. Jokers is terrible and there is no way that the league would sign off on that name for obvious reasons.
Still, none of them are great. Ironically, the best name for a team in Vegas is already taken by the WNBA team.
I don't think they could give one Vegas hotel that much added advantage by using their name. Might as well call them the Stratosphere or Flamingos.

That’s why I think it’s dumb. It’s tied to something no one will remember in 20 years. Are gila monsters indigenous to Vegas area? Maybe connect it with that? Joker is the closest to being relevant but that’s just a bad sports name.

Las Vegas city officials are all-in on the idea of building a new state-of-the-art NBA arena for their future expansion team.
Mayor Shelley Barkley is meeting with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver this week to go over potential arena site proposals on and off the Las Vegas Strip.
