so everyone we've drafted is a sunk cost and you assume i want to feed/force mhj the ball - good stuff - except no - i want mhj to get open instead of fighting for space and the ball - i wanna to see him cut and gain separation instead of being pinned between a probowler and a sideline - if petzing can't figure this out then screw petzing
Yes, the draft pick itself is always a sunk cost.

And you sure missed the reason k9 was talking about sunk cost bc the entire conversation was about catering to him aka changing the offense or forcing balls to him to maximize the 4th pick in the draft.

Pretty sure Petzing’s job is to help the Cards score more points than the other guys.
I get why you posted that route chart, but those ARE incredibly basic routes. And if they were rounded that way, also likely very easily diagnosed and defensed.

Well it is sunk cost. We ain't getting the #4 pick back for Marv. No matter how we'll he plays.
That isn't how sunk cost works at all. Just because we can never get the 4th pick back, doesn't mean we may not get any return on the investment... Or not enough return on the investment to stop investing in Marv.

Amon-Ra is one of the shiftiest WRs in the league, and their offense uses a lot of motion, unlike ours.

I do agree with your overall sentiment though that our offense needs to be more creative, especially in how we use Marv.

i like those routes better - i think mhj - kyler and the o-line would too - maybe not mcbride tho
Most of those routes rely on getting open very quickly and getting YAC from missed/broken tackles. That's stuff Marv sucked at in college. Putting him in the slot does not play to his strengths or help the offense, he won't be able to execute short inbreaking stuff better than McBride.

We drafted him to be an X, and judging from the bulk he's putting on we're going to continue using him there.

This podcast from nfl media ranks all GMs.

Monti comes in at #18. They conclude that the job he has done looks amazing on paper, but in his 3rd year it needs to show on the field and be consistent in years ahead for him to move up. Fair assessment.
