MLB is back. That means 9-9-9 challenges, stadium-wide renditions of Take Me Out to the Ball Game, cracks of the bat and ... corporate synergy?

Well, the last part is relatively new. Netflix will be airing an MLB game for the first time Wednesday, and it's a huge one: an Opening Day matchup between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. The game will begin at 8:05 p.m. ET on the streaming service.

This won't be your traditional broadcast, and it starts with the first pitch. "Thing," the disembodied hand from the Netflix show Wednesday, will do the honors. Since "Thing" is, well, a fictional character and purely a body part, it's unclear how exactly the first pitch will look. It will likely be done with visual effects -- let's hope better than the ones used in The Gray Man, the Russo Brothers' $200 million nothingburger.

Netflix recently announced recently that Wednesday, one of its most popular shows ever, will return for Season 3 with Jenna Ortega still starring. This first pitch should only add to the buzz.
