Tamar Bates has landed a new two-way deal in the NBA.

The former Missouri basketball guard is signing a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz, according to a report Friday from Michael Scotto at Hoops Hype.

The two-year Mizzou standout from 2023-25 is the third former Mizzou player to sign a pro deal in the past few days, following fellow Kansas City native Mark Mitchell, who signed an Exhibit-10 deal with the Denver Nuggets, and center Shawn Phillips Jr., who signed a summer league contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.

After going unselected in the 2025 NBA Draft, Bates spent last season with the Nuggets organization on a two-way contract. He had surgery on a fracture in his left foot in December and was waived by Denver in March.

In 12 Tip-Off Tournament games with the Grand Rapids Gold, the Nuggets’ G League affiliate, Bates averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He shot 55.0% from the field, 44.3% from 3-point range and 90.0% from the free throw line before sustaining his foot injury.

Bates, 23, likely will compete for the Jazz on their summer league roster. On a two-way deal, he will be eligible to play for both Utah and the organization’s G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars.

In 67 games for Mizzou after transferring in from Indiana, Bates averaged 13.3 points and 2.8 rebounds.

The Kansas City, Kansas, native had a 49.9% clip from the field, shot 39.3% from 3-point range and was 93.2% from the free throw line. He led the nation with a 94.6% mark from the line as a senior.
