HUNTINGBURG, Ind. – The Johnstown Mill Rats scored six runs between the fourth and sixth innings to defeat the Dubois County Bombers 7-3 Friday in the nightcap, after dropping a 4-3 decision in the suspended contest from Thursday.
Johnstown’s Brock Budacki, Brady Gavula (two RBIs) and Caleb Rey each supplied two hits in the second game. Budacki and Gavula produced a double apiece. Brodie Kuzior added a two-bagger.
Cole Kuszak earned the victory, permitting three runs in 4 2/3 innings. Landen Walker threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, and Kyle Moczygemba posted a zero in the seventh.
Rey’s sacrifice fly in the first gave the Mill Rats a 1-0 lead.
Two RBI groundouts in the bottom half put Dubois County up 2-1.
In the fourth, Landen Rozich’s sacrifice fly and Jordan Treadwell scoring on a wild pitch helped the Mill Rats lead 3-2.
Kriss Sydlowski’s RBI bunt single and Gavula’s two-run knock boosted the advantage to 6-2.
Budacki added an RBI double in the sixth.
Dubois County’s Ian Cartwright drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to end the first contest.
Hudson Allen and John DiGregorio were intentionally walked in the ninth.
Cartwright delivered an RBI double in the first, and Nate Ozuna drove in two runs with a single for a 3-0 lead.
Rozich blasted a two-run homer in the fourth. Caden Throneberry tied it up with an RBI single in the fifth.
Rozich compiled three knocks, and Caleb Smith chipped in two hits.
Cartwright (two RBIs) and DiGregorio each finished with two hits.
Johnstown’s Chris Lazano fanned six over five shutout innings of relief. Connor O’Neil went 2 1/3 innings, striking out four and not allowing a run out of the bullpen.
Dubois County’s Zach Dellerman allowed one run and struck out seven in four innings of relief. Andrew Noblitt posted a zero in the ninth for the victory.
