Kinda still in the idk zone for me after the presser.

He sounded confident and said some good things, but also said some things that give me the feeling that he may be in over his head. I was hoping to hear more about a plan/vision or whatever you want to call it.

Other than saying he’s going to get the play calls in quickly, I didn’t really get a sense of what his over arching philosophy is and how he plans to go about achieving that.

Sort of came off as a guy that has climbed the ladder quickly, and taking this HC job was the next rung. Whether that’s good, bad, or indifferent, is up for interpretation.

Nothing he said really changed anything for me. I still feel like he could be awesome, terrible, or anywhere in between.

Seeing some people concerned about who wasn’t there: I wouldn’t put any stock in that. It’s Feb 3 and the hire was announced two days ago. Some guys are on vacation halfway across the world. Cool that so many guys showed up but not an indictment of the others at all.

That was a good turn out imo. If the Wilsons' reaction is typical ML is off to good start.

Not sure about climbing ladder quickly, but I see both he and Matt took 11 years to go from 1st NFL coaching position to Head Coach.

One note from today: Michael Bidwill gave an opening statement but did not sit at the podium with LaFleur and Ossenfort to answer questions from reporters.

Bidwill *did* answer questions at Kingsbury and Gannon's introductory press conferences.

That’s because he doesn’t have any legit answers as to why this franchise has ALWAYS sucked under his family’s control.

LaFleur did not sound bothered by the Cardinals' delay in hiring him:

"I know it's been a thorough and detailed process that you guys have had to go through. But you guys did it the right way. The ways you guys did it just showed me you want to get this thing right."

I’m getting old so I tend to forget that this modern coaching timeline is a lot more compressed than it traditionally was for the vast majority of my time following sports.

2015 still doesn’t sound all that long ago to me but again I’m probably just showing my age. Hell this this team was actually good back then so it should seem longer.

Good ol Google AI says on average it takes approx 14-16 years of pro coaching experience before a guy gets a shot at a HC position and the average age of first time HCs is 44-46. I’m sure those numbers are skewing much lower the past 10 years or so.

I still think he’s ahead of the curve, but you’re right that curve is bending a lot sharper these days.

Sorry to piss on everyone’s parade, but as long as Bozo Bidwill is the owner, whatever success we may have, will be fleeting. Sadly, it’s just the way it is.
Ahhh, come on Debbie....you're better than this. With all your posts concerning the cardinals, you should be riding the very infrequent wave of joy with the rest of us...at least for a day

Murray: Congrats Coach. I think you'll do well in AZ.
Mike: Thanks, I think you'll do well with the Jets!
Peter Schrager just said on espn that it ain't a given that Kyler is gone.

I could see a scenario where they don't get what they want in trade and/or they strike out with Willis/Cousins in FA and ML/MO decide to keep him. Stay tuned.

If the choice is Murray vs Cousins, keep Murray

You can ask others on this board. I’m one of the biggest kool aid drinkers on this board. There doesn’t exist a bigger Cardinals fan than me. But, the Bidwills have owned this team for 92 years, so there’s a ton of evidence to back up my frustrations. We can get lucky & have fleeting success (Coryell, Whiz, BA), but the Bidwills will always find a way to piss it away.

Ok, I'm not here to argue one way or the other...but I would like to ask one question....have you ever killed any cats or dogs when you were young? ;)

Just kidding...have a nice day!

He's always going to be owner. Well, until he dies.

And then it will be another Bidwill. One of his nephews no doubt.

People need to get their head around that. It's never going to change.
