With the 13th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins took Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant.
The Dolphins were determined to address the defense, which has lost safety Jevon Holland and defensive tackle Calais Campbell since the end of last season via free agency and are in position to lose cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
The Dolphins bypassed a top cornerback in Texas' Jaedah Barron to take Grant. Perhaps they feel they can address the secondary in Rounds 2 and 3.
Grant is 6-4 and 331 pounds and will be looked at to line up alongside reigning team MVP Zach Sieler. As such, he could be called upon to play major snaps in 2025.
Grant is a reigning All-American who has had issues with consistency. Double teams aren't said to bother him, which is fortunate because he'll face his share of them in the NFL.
Grant is athletic player who can move well.
In 12 games last season, Grant was active and productive, finishing with 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and five pass breakups.
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper wrote that Grant's stock received a push as the draft drew near."Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant is gaining some late steam, and I've been told he could come off the board in the middle of the first round," Kiper wrote. "Grant is explosive and instinctive, and he could slide into Grady Jarrett's vacated spot on the interior."
