Buddy of mine who's a chiefs fan mentioned this today. Surprised to not see any discussion of this possibility. Did I miss it somewhere?

Sorry if so...
Xavier worthy low key kinda sucks IMO. Plus he's hurt a lot. His stats are nothing to write home about and that's with Mahomes as a QB and not much else around him. Both been in the league the same amount of time and even MHJ has far outperformed him in every metric.

Yah, I know nothing. But my guy said he's a capable slot guy and is fast AF, with the ability to stretch a defense. Not going to say hes the guy, but I could understand a trade of MHJ for a dude like that, considering Wilsons coming of age moment last year. And stretching a D is exactly what we need.

Would hate to feel it necessary to trade our #4 pick after 2 seasons, though.

all the makings of a fan forum proposed trade:

massively over valuing your teams player + projected motives onto the trade partner
Except Shefter was talking about it, and he doesnt normally wade into the fan trade idea waters...

I have a feeling that when/if we trade MHJ, we're gonna look very stupid.

I really want to agree with you. I’m hoping this next coaching staff can fix some of his technique issues. He could be so good.

I’m less convinced of this now than I’ve ever been, and I was MHJ or nothing two years ago.

After seeing him for two years I just can’t see a very high ceiling for him.

The hands alone are a major problem.
I mean, I actually think that's something that can be fixed. I don't think he'll ever be Larry Fitzgerald, but to me that's not really a dealbreaker.

I think the inability to be a downfield threat or pull away from defenders before or after the catch is the biggest concern I have about him becoming a perennial Pro Bowler or better. I think, right now, he can be a 1(a) or a very good complementary player in an offense. But I personally believe that if he could be an offensive centerpiece he would have displayed that by now.

Interestingly enough, MHJ's % of 20+ yard plays per reception is 22.3% per ESPN stats while JSN's is 18.7% over the past two seasons. AJ Brown's % is 21.3%.

So, there are some indicators that MHJ is more explosive than people give him credit for in terms of generating big plays.

I don't know if per-reception is the right denominator there. Let's take a look at per-target (targets, big plays, %):

MHJ
2024 - 116, 14, 12.1%
2025 - 73, 9, 12.3%
TOTAL - 189, 23, 12.2%

JSN
2024 - 100, 14, 14%
2025 - 163, 27, 16.7%
TOTAL - 263, 41, 15.6%

AJ Brown
2024 - 97, 17, 17.5%
2025 - 121, 14, 11.6%
Total - 218, 31, 14.2%

The Chiefs aren’t trading worthy but they might be a surprise suitor for K1.

I NEVER liked him. He basically made his money off of the combine. Admittedly I'm not a college football junkie but I sparingly heard his name before then.

you could just draft branch for the same thing without the trade

but as you stated the hands can be fixed...a concentration issue IMO...and if he makes more catches those numbers all go up....well, probably not targets but big plays and the percentage will.

ONLY if it's a concentration issue. Most players can't fix bad hands. Just ask 'ole Skillet Hands himself.

I chose per reception because I wanted to avoid the QB impact excuse. Not saying it’s the “right” way to go but that was my reasoning.
