The New York Mets have been one of the best teams in baseball this season. New York has won 18 of its first 25 games and owns a five-game lead in the National League East Division. The Mets have been dominant at home, dropping just one of their first 13 games at Citi Field.

This is despite injuries to several key players and starters. But it sounds like one Mets star will soon be making his return to the lineup this week. New York will welcome the addition of catcher Francisco Alvarez as he prepares to make his season debut this week against the Washington Nationals (via Mets).

In his absence, Luis Torrens has become New York's primary catcher. The veteran backstop has done decently, posting a .675 OPS and 92 OPS+. He has hit seven extra base hits in his 21 games behind the dish, so perhaps Avarez will add more pop into New York's lineup.
