Alexis Neumann decided some time ago that she wanted to play basketball at the collegiate level.
She has so far raked in Division I offers from Eastern Illinois University, Lindenwood University, University of Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. She has also drawn interest from countless other schools after another stellar year.

The 6-foot-2 junior guard already shines with more than 1,000 career points and 700 rebounds after leading the Titans (30-5) to a second state runner-up finish in Class 3A.
Neumann said it was a good season, especially in light of the team’s adversity. Ankle injuries beset Neumann early in the season, then came January.
Glenwood lost junior Hope Gilmore for the season to elbow surgery before junior point guard Ava Bobb briefly went out with illness.
“I’m just really proud of all of us and I’m really happy that we made it to state a second year,” Neumann said. “I hope that we can do it again next year.”
Glenwood showcased its progress in the championship game. It hung around until a flurry of 3s in the final six minutes that resulted in Washington’s 60-45 win. Washington previously bested Glenwood 67-25 in November.
“I think it just showed the amount that we improved and resilience that we had,” Neumann said.
Neumann has played with the likes of Gilmore and Bobb since grade school. It lends a certain peace of mind.
She finished this season with 14 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 assists per game to become The State Journal-Register's repeat Large School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. She also mopped up her second consecutive Large School Volleyball Player of the Year award this past fall.
“I think I just got a lot better at being stronger with the ball, especially going to the basket,” Neumann said of her improvements over the winter. “I think I do a lot better at taking the contact and going into it instead of getting pushed away.”
She even learned how to run point during Bobb’s absence.
“Playing Alton, I remember I had to bring it up and that was pretty challenging,” Neumann said. “I definitely realized how hard it is for her, but it definitely made me a lot more comfortable to do it and help her out.”
Neumann has already competed in a couple AAU tournaments with the Indiana Havoc this offseason. She wants to keep adding to her repertoire. That includes from the 3-point line.
She hopes that work will translate next season.
