UCLA softball legend Maya Brady has broken the Athletes Unlimited Softball League’s single-season home run record. Brady hit her 10th home run of the season during the Oklahoma City Sparks’ 12-4 win over the Carolina Blaze on Saturday.

It is important to note that the AUSL plays just 25 games in a single season. Last year was the league’s inaugural season and featured four teams that played 24 games each. This year, the AUSL increased the season by one game and added two more teams, including the Spark.

Brady’s teammate, Sydney Romero, ranks second in the AUSL with nine home runs this season. The Spark have two more games against the Blaze left in the season, which means the league-record is still up for grabs.

Former UCLA star Megan Grant has hit eight home runs this season. She is two home runs behind Brady for the league-record and has just one game remaining against the Texas Volts on Saturday at 7 pm PT.

Grant broke the NCAA record with 42 home runs during her senior season at UCLA. The two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Finalist finished her career as UCLA’s all-time home run leader with 91 across four seasons.

Now, Grant is in her rookie season in the AUSL with the Portland Cascade, which is the other expansion team the league added this season.

While it is unlikely Grant will pass Brady for the league-record in one game, the utility player has shown she will be a big name in the game for many years to come.
