Max Verstappen has officially entered a new chapter of life—fatherhood—and even Lewis Hamilton couldn’t help but share his heartfelt reaction. As news broke that the reigning World Champion skipped media duties ahead of the Miami Grand Prix to attend the birth of his first child, messages of support flooded in, including from his fiercest on-track rivals.

“I spoke to him briefly in Saudi and saw how excited he was,” Hamilton said. “Big congrats to him.” It was a rare, warm moment between the two modern F1 titans—often painted as polar opposites—revealing a shared humanity that transcends the paddock. While competition may define their careers, life milestones like this bring even the most intense drivers together.

George Russell also spoke about the news of Verstappen’s child, “I think we’re all professionals, but this is a personal part of your life,” he said. “For anybody who’s had a kid, it's a pretty special moment. All the best to them.”

Russell even added a personal note, reflecting on how much joy he gets from his nieces and nephews. “They’re not my kids, but they bring me so much joy when I spend time with them,” he said.

But yes, I think there are lots to discover, many beautiful and nice things that come with that. So yes, I’m sure he’ll enjoy that.”

And Red Bull isn’t slowing down either. According to reports, Verstappen will debut a new floor upgrade in Miami—while his teammate Yuki Tsunoda will not have access to the same update. Verstappen might have missed the media day, but he’ll be back on track with both personal joy and technical edge on his side.
