Caleb Williams and Matthew Stafford have a 14-year age difference between each other.

The Chicago Bears' quarterback grew up watching Stafford while he was with the Detroit Lions. During those years in Detroit, Williams appreciated how the veteran signal caller would manipulate defenders with his eyes and how his footwork always timed up with the pacing of the offense.

Since being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams has split his two career matchup against Stafford. Williams won the first matchup as a rookie, but Stafford and the Rams eliminated the Bears in the Divisional Round last season in overtime.

Despite the Bears losing, the 24-year-old quarterback made an impression on the 38 year old, especially after Williams connected with tight end Cole Kmet in the closing moments of the fourth quarter to tie the game and send it into overtime.

"Every snow game is a little bit different," Stafford said via the Green Light with Chris Long. "What kind of snow, I know this is kind of like we're getting weather manny, but is it like wet snow? Is it dry snow? Is there a ton of wind? Is there, you know, all these other things with it. They're all different. They're a lot of fun to pay in except when you're playing Caleb Williams, and he sprints back to the 50 and he launches the freaking NFL Blitz jump throw for a touchdown. I was like, 'what the h--- is this?'"

Former Rams defensive end Chris Long acknowledged Stafford's comment and said that he feels Williams is one of the toughest outs in the NFL right now on third down.

"I think he's just like with the ball in his hand, I mean, it's as scary as anybody for sure," Stafford said. "Right? Like you don't know what's going to happen. He was running back to the 50, and I'm like in my head going, 'Oh, sweet. All right. Here we go. What are we doing here?' And then I was like, 'Oh he launches it, that looks kind of good actually.' And then I'm like, 'Oh my, God. They caught it.' I'm like, 'What the h---.'"

Stafford has made his fair share of incredible throws throughout his 17-year career, but even the veteran quarterback who has seen nearly everything on a football field was stunned by what Williams showed on that one play.

Williams has the ability to make the out-of-structure type of plays happen at any moment's notice. It's what separates him from many of the quarterbacks.

Once Williams consistently play on time within Ben Johnson's offense, he will become one of the toughest outs in football -- not only third down, as Long mentioned, but for an entire game.
