I think you'll find that a majority of the players don't buy into Coach Mac's dumb post-game speeches.
from what kdus was reporting earlier this week...martay was a good attitude guy until last season - when mckinnon and shipp were given long term deals and he was not. his anger seems to have been that he was not given a long term deal. He was pretty much working for the minimum and was pissed he did not get a decent deal...but then again - after the season the cardinals did offer him $2 mil for 2 years - not sure why he found that insufficient.
Hopefully his ego has been knocked down a few pegs. After Anquans game last week Martay shouldn't have any illusions about coming in and being the #1 reciever. While I don't think much of him as a reciever none of Jerrys' kids have done anything so I don't care if any of them get cut. Kasper has been a playmaker for us so I would like to see him get more playing time and hopefully Johnson will develope, but for now Martay should get enough passes to make him happy if that's what he wants. While we have tons of "potential" at WR as a group they haven't lived up to it so and I don't think they will so I don't see Jenkins really hindering anyones pregress. I was against signing a vet WR during the offseason and still stand by that. We needed to see what our young guys could do before we bring in some retread who won't be around when we are finally ready to compete for a champoinship, but now that we are going into the second week of the regular season I'm all for bringing in vets who will help.

I'd be more concerned if I were Josh Scobey. 4th-string RB and backup KR. With Jenkins on the roster, he can kiss that KR job goodbye. How much do the Cardinals need four running backs?
Besides, Scobey's healthy. The Cards can't cut Kasper while he's injured. They'd have to give him an injury settlement, and the Cards don't typically throw money around like that. Not, at least, if they think a player can still fill a role.
If I'm looking at special teams play, I think Kasper is a greater asset than Scobey--the coaches must agree, since Kasper won the starting KR job--and I like having both Jenkins and Kasper as returners.

If I had to speculate on who they would cut - I would say scobey. he can go to the practice squad....when the other receivers injury situation sorts itself out - they will probably dump a receiver (cut or IR) and try to get scobey back on the squad.
What I would do: put nate hoedel on IR. he is injured - and we can have steve bush snap the ball - hoedel is a liability on coverage and we do not have the luxury of having a snapper only on the roster when we have a guy who has done it before in the NFL.

An injury settlement would actually save them money compared to putting him on IR since they would pay less than his contract balance.
But, I do agree that Scobey is a more logical cut than Kasper. Scobey has no shot of playing this year, barring catastrophic injuries. With out "top" WRs having question marks the size of battleship anchors, it makes sense to try and keep more options there until more of them prove themselves.

I'd beg to differ. Scobey's a draft choice, and Kasper's a guy that they signed off the street. Scobey is a guy that has been good enough to the coaches to put on IR last year, and to keep over Travis Prentice this season, so they have an investment in the guy.
Kasper is a player that apparently only fans like (and only some of them) but hasn't made a move up the depth chart, and is obvioulsly not one of his coordinator's or position coach's favorites (read the KFFL reports about how B. Johnson is struggling in practice. He's apparently getting the start in front of Kasper), as well as doesn't "fit in" with the rest of the wideouts on the roster. The only thing he does is return kickoffs, and now we have a kick returner who had a better average than him in 2002. Maybe we'll keep him around for "diversity" purposes.
EDIT: Not to mention, the Cards planned to carry 4 RBs this season from be beginning, since they only needed one fullback.

As much as everyone says he has a bad attitude, I can't fully agree. Is he confident/cocky? Yes. Does he have a reason to be? Not really. Other than the fact that it might be infectious and confidence never hurts.
I can say that MarTay has always been cool to the fans in my experiences. There was a time during training camp a couple of years ago that MarTay ran over to the sideline in the middle of practice just to show the Avengers "much love" (as he put it) for the support we gave him. Not many players take the time to personally let the fans know that they appreciate the support, but IMO, MarTay does.
Also, his addition CAN'T hurt our rapidly depleating WR squad.

I don't get that comment??!! Kasper was our best receiver at the end of the year!!! He was our second best receiver last game. He has great athletic skills and catches most balls thrown to him. Why don't you like this guy?! What have the other players done better than him?! Why are they better?!

By the way those stats should include fumbles! If you ask a coach if he would want a guy who fumbles that much he probably wouldn't want him.

I get nervous when people talk about messing with the long snapper position. The potential for a really bad play is huge when you are talking about punts and FG.
Anyway, welcome back Martay. I sure hope he is in shape and can help on ST this week. His speed should help stretch the field with Gilmore sidelined.

That's fine. Did you see the end of ESPN Page 2's Bill Simmons's NFL Preview, Part I? Myself and CardsFan aren't the only ones that wonder whether or not Coach Mac can reach all his players. The evidence that he puts on the field week after week suggests to me that Mac doesn't put together a team ready to play on Sundays, and can't manage the team/strategies the he does end up fielding.
Even Skkorp has resigned himself to the fact that Mac can't manage a game. If he can't reach all the players in his locker room, or get the team ready to play on Sundays, why is he here?

I love Coach Mac's postgame speeches. I have them saved on audio files and listen to them every now and then to get pumped up. Nothing like them.
Now if we can just work on his game management skills . . .
It's not that Kasper is white...it's because Kasper's HAIR is white. If he would only dye it a nice Cardinal Red he would instantly become our number 2 reciever.
Although Money-Green would be attractive to management, it is not recommended; possible resulting in finding his head in Bidwill's pocket.

Jeez man - relax Jim O. If you're gonna work for an organization that is in the public eye and ARE a representative of that organization - you should know how to treat your fans - it's a problem most of think the Cards have anyways and posts like that only perpetuate it. Have thicker skin man - it's one thing to defend your organization or stay quiet on some issues - it's another to tell one it's fans who buys tickets how dumb they are.
He never said he was dumb, he said his posts were dumb.....but I do like how in your on going effort to be constantly negative you would figure a way to twist someones words........
