Mark Pope actively looking to fill Kentucky's 15th roster spot

When Milan Momcilovic committed to the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, it brought the roster to 14 players, leaving one empty spot. However, Pope seemed in no hurry to fill it, and even said they would fill it if the right player came along, indicating that it wasn't a priority. They seemed to be in no hurry to add.

On Friday, Pope spoke with the media, and the buzz surrounding that final spot was a bit different.

But we have a spot open, and sowe’re actively, every day in conversations with everything from international guys, reclass guys, still transfer portal guys, and then of course this looming fifth-year eligibility, which would bring a huge influx of talent into the recruitable pool right now, some guys that could be game changers.

That sounds quite a bit different from the sentiments Pope expressed earlier in the summer. It makes sense, though. Obviously, the fit has to be right, but if they can add another player that helps them win games, then it should be done.

As Pope mentioned, there are players currently suing the NCAA for another year of eligibility, as well as potential reclassification candidates that could be worth adding. Now it seems as if adding a player is more likely than not. Big Blue Nation will be anxiously awaiting a move.
