The Seattle Mariners entered the 2026 MLB season expected to contend for a World Series and, at the very least, make the postseason.

But now with a 53-58 record with just two games until the MLB trade deadline, there are some serious question marks about the club. This team might not be a contender like many would've thought.

That change in mindset and outlook for Seattle might be best seen by the report from Adam Jude of The Seattle Times. Reportedly, the Mariners are now listening to offers for outfielder Randy Arozarena in what might be a sign the team is open to selling.

"The Mariners are listening on Randy Arozarena and George Kirby as a shift in the club's thinking could take shape in the final 48 hours before Monday's trade deadline," Jude reports.

This is a significant change for the Mariners, as not only are Luis Castillo and Emerson Hancock being featured in trade rumors, but now George Kirby and Arozarena are joining them as potential players on their way out.

It's hard to imagine that all of these players being mentioned in trade rumors will go, but of these four, Arozarena might make the most sense as the player to trade.

Arozarena is a three-time All-Star, right-handed hitting outfielder who has 13 home runs this season with 3.5 bWAR, a .280 batting average, and an .822 OPS.

Being a righty-hitting outfielder, an area of the trade market this summer that's been barren, would give Seattle a real chance to land a haul for Arozarena.

However, the most important reason to consider a trade of Arozarena is that the veteran outfielder will be a free agent after the season concludes.

Instead of holding onto him through the deadline and losing him to free agency for very little, if anything, it makes sense to trade him now.

Seattle has some depth they could turn to for his spot anyway, and maybe all they need to spark a turnaround is a change with the roster by getting some younger guys into the lineup more often.

Arozarena being available for trade would be a huge change, not only for the Mariners, but for teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves, among many others that are seeking outfield help this year.

With it already being a seller's market, especially so for right-handed hitting outfielders, the Mariners could benefit greatly from dealing Arozarena by the August 3 MLB trade deadline.

Jude is reporting the Mariners are listening to offers for Arozarena, so fans should pay close attention to the rumors over the next two days, as the veteran outfielder might be on the move before long.
