The All-Star Game concluded Tuesday with the American League beating the National League 4-0.
The Seattle Mariners had just one representative at the event, outfielder Randy Arozarena.
Arozarena made the Midsummer Classic for the third time in his career and the second consecutive season. He was named as a substitute for the event July 4.
There was a brief thought that Arozarena could potentially start in the event due to the AL's All-Star starters, Byron Buxont, Mike Trout and Aaron Judge, all dealing with injuries when the full rosters were announced.
Trout suited up for the event in center field, and the corners were taken by fellow replacements Cody Bellinger (New York Yankees) and Riley Greene (Detroit Tigers).
Arozarena replaced Greene in left field in the bottom of the fifth inning. He ended up receiving two at-bats for the AL and went 1-for-2, with his one hit being a soft single up the middle in the top of the ninth inning.
The Mariners will begin the second half of the season in a game against the San Francisco Giants at 7:10 p.m. PT on Friday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Seattle will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing first half of the season that was hardly representative of the World Series aspirations many had for the club going into this season.
The Mariners are 48-49 and coming off consecutive series losses against the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. The M's are 1.5 games behind the Texas Rangers for first place in the American League West. Seattle occupies the final wild card spot in the American League with the Minnesota Twins and lead the Boston Red Sox by half a game for the final wild card spot.
Arozarena has drawn mixed reactions from fans due to several defensive miscues in the outfield but has been one of the most effective hitters on the team.
Going into the All-Star Break, Arozarena has slashed .286/.380/.458 with an .838 OPS in 89 games and has hit 21 doubles, a triple and 11 home runs with 45 RBIs. He's stolen 19 bases in 24 opportunities.
Arozarena, in his age-31 season, is currently in a contract year, his last under team control by the Mariners.
At his current trajectory, the three-time All-Star will likely command a decent fee in free agency, even with a potential lockout due to Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) between the MLB and MLB Players Association.
