Lumberjacks cruise to top finish at home quadrangular

Sep. 6—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji High School girls swimming and diving team's first home meet this season was a successful one.

The Lumberjacks took first place with 687 points, beating out Thief River Falls, North Co-Op and Ogilvie-Mora.

The 200 medley relay team of Anna Friedt, Kera Strodtman, Josie Carter and Emily Haack took first place with a time of 2:02.32, nearly 16 seconds faster than the second-place foursome.

Friedt (2:39.09, fifth), Carter (2:37.40, third) and Haack (2:35.48, second) each finished in the top five in the 200 IM. However, teammate Elle Wille claimed the top spot at 2:35.35.

Wille, Carter, Finley Zothman and Abby Daman won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:56.23. It was one of three first-place finishes for Daman and Zothman.

Daman took first in the 500 free (5:34.15), the 400 free relay and the 200 free relay with Zothman, Strodtman and Wille (1:43.97). Daman also took second place in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:11.45, finishing behind Haack in first place at 1:09.83.

Zothman won the 200 free in 2:03.53 to go along with her two relay wins. She also finished in second place in the 500 free at 5:47.56. Friends also took fourth place in the 500 at 6:34.56.

Ella Yoder took fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.76. Wille won the 100 freestyle in 58.89 seconds. Strodtman also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.41.

BHS claimed the top four spots in the diving competition.

Ridley Hadrava won it with a score of 173.25. Kylie Sonneman took second at 168.55, followed by Samantha Buxton (161.05, third) and Isabella Rierson (149.90, fourth).

Team scores

1-Bemidji 687; 2-Thief River Falls 511; 3-North Co-Op 405; 4-Ogilve-Mora 304.
