LSU announced on Thursday morning that they will head to Las Vegas for the Live Like Lou College Baseball Classic next season. They will be accompanied by and square off with Iowa, Oregon State, and Arizona State.

Since Johnson has taken helm of the LSU Baseball program in 2022, the Tigers have competed annually in one of these non-conference tournaments that have become more predominant the past few years.

In Johnson’s 5 years, they have gone to:

2026 – Jacksonville

2025 – Frisco

2024 – Houston

2023 – Round Rock

2022 – Houston

These tournaments provide an opportunity for a good early season tune up vs other power 5 teams, as opposed to the typical mid-majors that form the rest of the non-conference schedule. Their three opponents in Vegas have each seen some recent success.

Arizona State made it to the postseason this past year as the #3 seed in Nebraska’s regional. They got all the way to the regional final where they fell to eventual College World Series participant Ole Miss. The Sun Devils will deploy one of the best players in the country in 2027, Landon Hairston, who will likely see his name on just about every major award watch list in the preseason. The outfielder was named the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2026.

Oregon State is also coming off of a solid season in which they made the postseason. The Beavers were the #2 seed in Oregon’s regional where the eventually saw their season end in the regional final vs the Ducks. Oregon State and LSU most recently squared off when in the 2023 Baton Rouge Regional, in which the Tigers defeated them twice on their way to the super regionals and, eventually, their 7th National Championship.

2027 won’t be the first time that LSU and Iowa square off in one of these tournaments, They, too, found themselves on the Tigers schedule in 2023 Round Rock Classic. The Hawkeyes were the first team to beat LSU after they had gotten off to a 5-0 start. Iowa is coming off of few down years, having missed the postseason in each of the past three seasons.

Although LSU won’t release their full schedule until sometime in the fall, this tournament appears to take place in week 3 of the season on March 5-7.
