The Oregon Ducks are in the process of retooling the roster for next season on the diamond after a tumultuous start to the offseason. Despite a trip to the Super Regionals, the dugout has been ripped apart by the transfer portal, and more big decisions await the program in the upcoming MLB draft.
Mark Wasikowski still has time to fill out the roster and reload for another run in the Big Ten, but the Ducks will be tested early on in the 2027 season. Oregon will travel to Arlington, Texas, in February to play in the 2027 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. The series will take place at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, and begin on February 26.
It will be the second weekend of play for the Ducks in the upcoming season. Oregon will be joined in the series by Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa, Oklahoma State and Oregon State. Matchups and game times will be announced at a later date.
The Ducks will have a very different look next season. A trio of stars in last season's lineup, Angel Laya, Naulivou Lauaki Jr. and Burke-Lee Mabeus, all elected to enter the transfer portal. Meanwhile, second baseman Ryan Cooney, shortstop Maddox Molony and starter Cal Scolari all could leave the program in the MLB draft. Regardless of who suits up in green and yellow next season, the Ducks still have enough talent to be competitive in the Big Ten and make another run to the NCAA Tournament.
Oregon has fared well in early-season tournaments in recent years. The Ducks went 2-1 in 2026 in the Live Like Lou Las Vegas College Baseball Classic. In the program's most recent trip to Globe Life Field in 2024 for the Shriners Children's College Showdown, the Ducks also went 2-1, picking up wins over Oklahoma and Baylor.
Tickets for the series in Texas will go on sale on Thursday at 7 a.m. PT.
