Vanderbilt baseball will play in the Surprise College Baseball Series in Surprise, Arizona, in the 2027 season, the tournament announced June 24.
In the event, held from Feb. 19-21, the Commodores will face Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara and Nebraska. All three of those teams made the NCAA Tournament as 2-seeds in 2026.
Vanderbilt is a frequent participant in early-season tournaments, having played in at least one in each of the past four seasons. Playing in a West Coast tournament burned the Commodores in 2026, however. They lost each of three games in a tournament in Las Vegas and lost two of their top pitchers to season-ending injuries. When two of those teams, UC Irvine and Arizona, ended up much worse than expected, it severely damaged Vanderbilt's RPI; the poor RPI eventually led to the Commodores missing the postseason.
The event will be held at Surprise Stadium, which is the spring training facility for the Rangers and Royals. Exact dates, times and broadcast info will be released at a later date.
