LSU baseball landed its second transfer of the last 24 hours on Friday, securing a commitment from former Texas State shortstop Dawson Park. The addition of Park follows the signing of Gonzaga pitcher Landon Hood. Park is LSU's first bat of the transfer cycle, and fills a significant need on the infield.
Per 64Analytics, Park is the No. 46-ranked transfer in the portal. He spent two years at Texas State, where he played in 98 games and made 93 starts. Park totaled 89 hits and scored 47 runs in his Bobcat career.
Park was inconsistent at the plate as a true freshman, but turned it on in his sophomore campaign. Park hit .301 with a .575 slugging. He smashed 13 homers while driving in 52 runs and stealing nine bases. Park's strikeout rate was nearing 25% in 2025, which is a slight concern, but the .300 average paired with the power makes up for the swing and miss trait.
LSU shortstop Steven Milam is expected to turn pro, leaving a hole at the position. Park should slide in as the starter. If Milam remains in Baton Rouge, Park can play second or third base.
LSU is expected to be active in the transfer portal this cycle as Jay Johnson looks to rebuild the roster after a disappointing 2026.
